...... People don't change their bed sheets for 2-3 months?

I can't believe it. I change all ours weekly, not least because there is nothing quite like getting into a fresh bed.

But 2-3 months without clean sheets? Surely not????

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 06/09/2010 10:39

I hoovered my matress this morning for the 1st time ever (well, it's only a few months old)...an odd experience but did also remind me to hoover under the bed which is a bit of a mission but I agree neccessary.

takes me a good 10mins of huffing and puffing to put sheets, duvet cover and pillow cases all back on and so cannot be arsed to do that last thing at night.

With all that washing, no wonder the planet is slowly dieing!! I just don't have th drying space either to do that much washing every day...but I'm guessing the washing-obsessives have dryers too

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/09/2010 10:42

I think I do enough to offset the enviornmental impact of having a wash on every day, thanks. I don't the enviornment card can be used to excuse dirty skanks.

(ooh, that rhymed).

I did have a drier but tripped over the open door and snapped it off, so have not had one for months. It's fine, we have enough space outside and in to dry sheets.

To put the duvet on quickly, have it inside out, then put your hands into the far corners, grab the corners of the duvet and then shake the duvet so it ends up the right way. Cover on in 1 minute.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 06/09/2010 10:46

The cleaner does it so it happens once a fortnight.

Appletrees · 06/09/2010 10:49

I hate that phrase pop in the washing machine

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 06/09/2010 10:52

ah, well fine if you have the drying space outside (snivelling in my cramped 2 bed flat)...see that's how I change my duvet cover but it's still a faff...maybe because our is king sized I dunno.

JorrisBohnson · 06/09/2010 10:53

Well, my mattress is on a spit and therefore turned constantly. I also have the hoover running permanently next to it, just in case a speck of dust/skin/hair gets anywhere it. I just stand next to it when I want to sleep whilst showering and changing my clothes at the same time. After all I wouldn't want anybody to think I was normal dirty!

Can't believe you rotters who only change the sheets every few weeks, I can smell you all from here oh no thats me and my changed monthly bed.

Grin
usualsuspect · 06/09/2010 10:55

And as for you can strip the beds before you go to work...like thats going to happen..I can barely get myself up ready and out the house

usualsuspect · 06/09/2010 10:57

Thats the answer jorris ..I will sleep on the sofa ..no need to change the sheets then Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/09/2010 10:59

Re stripping your beds in the morning - my mum bought me a slow cooker on the basis that I could brown some meat and onions and start a casserole off at half 6 in the morning.

Yes I can strip sheets at that tinme of day but start cooking? Sod that for a game of soldiers.

usualsuspect · 06/09/2010 11:03

Can you imagine chopping onions first thing ..making coffee and toast is hard enough Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/09/2010 11:11

I know.

Seriously. I don't even go in the kitchen of a morning, let a lone turn a slow cooker on.

The thing has never left its box Blush

gagamama · 06/09/2010 11:17

I'm starting to get a bit paranoid that I smell now. I changed my sheets yesterday after 2 weeks, and delighted in the aroma of satsuma body butter and herbal essences shampoo wafting from them as I carried them to the washing machine, and for a split moment wished I'd left them on.

The clean ones don't smell nearly as nice.

Once a week - its lovely to get into a nice fresh bed.

Those that don't change that often, presumably as well as showering you wash your hair daily? Cos otherwise you're lying in the oil from your hair from months old - I can't see how it wouldn't smell bad - I know DS is pretty smelly even after a week but then he can be a bit of a soap dodger.

usualsuspect · 06/09/2010 11:25

Dp has very little hair ,so we don't have the hair oil problem and my hairs mostly clean

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/09/2010 11:30

We change ours once a week, sometimes more often.

I wear clothes more than one day - only skirts/dresses/trousers though. Wouldn't wear underwear or a top more than one day.

There is a happy medium surely? Ivykaty - you sound a bit obsessed with it all tbh.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/09/2010 11:31

Starlight really? Eek that's a bit horrid. Doesn't the dust bother you?

happyland · 06/09/2010 11:37

We aim for once a week, but it is probably every ten days really. I love the feeling of clean sheets and snuggling into a beautifully made fresh bed. In fact I was just thinking to myself the other day, if I was given the choice of never having sex again or never having clean sheets again, I would totally give up sex no questions.

And I agree my sil family rarely change their bedding, although shower frequently and there is a distinct aroma.

lolol at the sex or clean sheets conundrum.

Oblomov · 06/09/2010 11:46

I change beds once a week, or up to 10 days max.
I wiff. naturally. I shower most mornings. have baths. I am just naturally stinky. I have stinky feet. and farty breath. i wear clean pants every day. a bra for a few days. work clothes new every day. maybe jeans for 2 days.
I still wiff. i get through alot of deo and perfume.
Am not really selling myself here, am I ? Wink
Both ds's have inherited my farty breath and stinky feet. ashamed.

BongoWinslow · 06/09/2010 11:46

My younger brother just stopped using sheets altogether - no bed sheet, no pillowcases... his bed was truly a disgusting sight.

Oblomov · 06/09/2010 11:49

GetOrf, I brown sausages , or chicken to make sausage casserole or chicken casserole, in my slow cooker, at 6.30am. Tis fab when you come home at 5pm from work and the place smells of casserole.

Had to leave this thread at midnight last night to put on new sheets and covers (coincidence, not thread inspired Grin) I times it. It was 10 minutes exactly. 10 back-aching boring minutes for one bed.
