to have woken my mum up to kill a spider!!

Aaaaghhhhh!
My mum has been staying this week, she tends not to get up when DD2 wakes up early.
Come downstairs at 6:45am, to discover a HUGE spide happily sat on the setee
Bleeeurgh, I really dont like spiders, am better now am single parent with 2 DD's, but this was a big bugger !

So I woke mum up to get rid, and bless her she did, but feel a bit bad I couldnt deal with it myself, I'm a 39 yr old professional FGS, what do I do when she's not here!

I would of done the same as im a total wuss!

And if i was home alone the creature would live under a glass untill someone suitable came along to dispose of it!

I woke my mum up when she was visiting to check if there was a mouse in my shoe.

I feel your shame.

hoover - tis the only answer for those of us who can't get close. Dyson is best as you can check it's dead in the see through dust bucket!

I hate spiders too! I dont like killing them though cause Im a bit soft like that. I have a long handled dustpan and brush which I use to wrestle sweep them into. Then I chuck them outside. It can be a scary job, but im brave me

YANBU - just a bit pathetic

YABU to ask your mum to kill it - what has it done to you? Not sure about waking her up - I woke my sister up when we were staying in a hotel to get one off the ceiling. But you could have trapped it with a glass and left it til she woke up. YANBU to be petrified though - I would be!

No way could I have trapped it in a glass, it was perched on the back of a setee cushion, and very active , aaaaaggghhhhh!!
I have no qualms killing spiders I am afraid
If she wasnt there I think I would have got the Dyson and tried to catch it in there, not sure I could have got close enough to kill it or even catch it (ugh). It was a bout the size of my palm!

If anyone woke me up to kill a spider they'd be on the wrong end of a hissy fit from me.

And don't kill them, either scare them away so you can't see them or trap them and let them go outside.
