do not open my gate to put your kids in there because you can't be arsed to keep an eye on them.

Just had some stupid bitch parent do this, she opened my gate and urged her brat child to play in my garden.

My garden has no toys or play equipment, but plants, solar lights and a few pretty windchimes and ornaments as my dd is in a wheelchair and enjoys being out there, I did approach the mum and got "he's only a baby" he was about 2ish and had managed to pull out some ornaments which had a spike attached, when I suggested she use reins she stil kept on harping on about her ds only being a baby, so I asked her if she would like it if I got my kids to come and tear around her garden.

If her child or anyone elses got injured in my garden (as this happens a lot) I bet the parent would be kicking off about it.

Bearing in mind that my garden has a gate which is always closed, am I being unreasonable in wanting my garden kept for me and my family, not every kid whose parent is at the bus stop and they feel it is an option instead of looking after them themselves

Sorry rant over

YANBU - it's just common courtesy. And you don't have to shut your gate.

Thats actually really cheeky,

yanbu, i would never allow my children to do that.

swanandduck · 03/09/2010 11:31

YANBU. She sounds incredibly rude and brass necked.

Mingg · 03/09/2010 11:31

Why didn't you just ask them to leave your garden?

onthepier · 03/09/2010 11:32

She was being totally unreasonable, and is sending out the wrong message to her ds that it's ok to play on other people's property without checking first!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/09/2010 11:32

Shock at this mother! The cheak, she may as well have let herself into your house and allow her child to use your toilet!

Morloth · 03/09/2010 11:33

Wow, who does that?

If it is a regular occurrence I would consider locking my gate from now on.

edam · 03/09/2010 11:33

Bizarre. I wonder if she does this at every bus stop or just had a sudden urge to trespass?

edwardcullensotherwoman · 03/09/2010 11:34

Shock how rude! I would never encourage ds to play in someone's garden. They could damage your property (which, let's face it, at 2yo they seem to be very good at!), not to mention hurt themselves!
YANBU at all, but she was VU in thinking this was ok because "he's only a baby". Fair enough, but it's your garden. I would get some sort of latch or lock for the gate if I was you. If they want to play they go to the park, if they can't control them at the bus stop, put them in a pushchair or on reins!
Hope your garden has survived! :)

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/09/2010 11:34

YANBU. What a cheeky twat.

Am waiting the first MN top trumps on this thread, however Grin

Rockbird · 03/09/2010 11:35

Yes but the child might have special needs you know Hmm

princesspuds · 03/09/2010 11:36

I have lost count that people have done this and it really gets to me as it spoils it for my dd when her stuff gets ruined/stolen/broken the fact that some parents think they have the right to do this Sad

Shock that is so rude YANBU!

deakell · 03/09/2010 11:38

YANBU at all.

Stupid woman - dear god, having to actually pay attention to your child in public! What next?

TrillianAstra · 03/09/2010 11:38

He is only a baby. she is not.

prozacfairy · 03/09/2010 11:38

Shock Can't believe the bloody cheek of some people! YANBU to tell her to get the hell off your property!

princesspuds · 03/09/2010 11:39

Rockbird.....it did, it needed a decent parent to keep it under control.Grin

deakell · 03/09/2010 11:40

Put a note on your gate, unless your are the postman or I'm expecting you, DO NO ENTER especially if you are a lazy twat waiting at the bus stop who can't be fucked to watch your kid

said · 03/09/2010 11:41

I'd get a 'Beware of the baby-eating WOLF' sign

MrsMadWriggle · 03/09/2010 11:43

Trespassers will be prosecuted sign?

PlumBumMum · 03/09/2010 11:44

I don't understand so this isn't the first time someone has played in your garden while waiting on the bus?, cheeky feckersAngry

Even if you didn't have a gate someone shouldn't just come in to your garden!

Some people lack manners, plus they are teaching their children lack of respect and encouraging them to play at a strangers house

SweetGrapes · 03/09/2010 11:52

What cheek!
I remember the other thread a while back where someone had parked in the front drive and vanished.
Someone else caught someone picking plums and instead of being apologetic, she was berated for the quality of the plums this year. Apparently they wouldn't make as much jam as they did last year. Grin

princesspuds · 03/09/2010 11:53

Plum, they think its ok, they even lift up their toddlers to walk on my wall which is about 7 ft drop on my side as I have ramped access, if a kid were to fall off that no doubt I would get the blame despite the parents being twats.
