and that we should all stop posting and just search old threads instead?

YABU
how boring and pointless. You might as well tape every conversation you have and not bother having new ones, just search your archives for the last time you discussed the weather, or the price of fish.

In case you haven't noticed, current affairs tend to change on a fairly regular basis.

VinegarTits · 03/09/2010 12:25

so you have read every single thread that has been posted on MN since 2000 and you know for a fact that every subject under the sun has been covered do you?

sethstarkaddersmum · 03/09/2010 12:26

I'm sure this thread has been done before.

MrsMadWriggle · 03/09/2010 12:48

OMG some people thought this was a serious post?

OP posts:
MrsMadWriggle · 03/09/2010 12:57

Sorry it was a facetious response to the "this has been done a million times" comments which come up every few days (not to mention the "fed up with the same old stuff" thread).

OP posts:
tethersend · 03/09/2010 13:03

Arf at serious responses Grin

MMW - I agree with your point - I find those 'yawn, this has been done before' type posts very irritating, why would anyone come on a thread to say that? - are they the conversation police?

VinegarTits · 03/09/2010 13:48

didnt come across as facetious of funny im afraid

maybe its the way you worded it

MrsMadWriggle · 03/09/2010 13:59

vinegartits - fair point - I was having an unfunny five mins.

TrillianAstra · 03/09/2010 14:03

Can we post in 'geeky stuff'? I'm sure the iPhone 5 hasn't been discussed much....

cyteen · 03/09/2010 14:04

Well, I've yet to see a MN throw up 1000 post conspiracy theory thread concerning David Icke's connection with the real perps of 9/11, so YABU Grin

Another board I use has a whole section devoted to past conspiracy theory threads...it is hilarious.

LackingInspiration · 03/09/2010 14:06

I knew it was a joke, and had a jokey response in mind, until the serious police came along!

VinegarTits · 03/09/2010 14:11

so 3 serious posts then the op says 'i was only messin' then everyone else comes along and say 'huh huh yeah i knew that'

I had my feet eaten by fish the other day, and was considering sharing, perhaps in S&B.

Glad I didn't bother now. Old news.

MrsMadWriggle · 03/09/2010 15:09

Oh no, it's been bumped. IMO this poor misunderstood thread needs to die a simple, humane death with as much dignity as it can muster. Sort of thread euthanasia...

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 03/09/2010 15:11

Bumping for youGrin

I am one of the 'I thought it was serious, then was told it wasn't so pretended I knew all along sheep' baaaaaaaaaaaa Grin

AgentZigzag · 03/09/2010 15:20

I love the idea of the serious police, 'AIBU to poke fun at the serious police?' Grin

LackingInspiration · 03/09/2010 15:25

I love it that if you say 'I knew it was a joke' then you must be lying! ShockHmm

nickelbabe · 03/09/2010 15:27

sorry MMW - bumping again!!!
Grin

and [evilgrin]

cloudydays · 03/09/2010 15:47

MMW - the humour was obvious, and I even got the point beyond the humour! And I'm not lying! But then, I would say that.

I totally agree with you, I think those "yawn" or "this has been done to death" comments are ridiculous, and make those who post them seem rather Sad as though they live on MN, have done for months and years, and rely on fresh new topics to keep them entertained.

It must not ever have occurred to them that some people dip in and out of these kinds of forums (fora?) and don't see every single post going, and also that new people join all the time and have every right to seek advice or voice their opinions on in-laws, pets, breast / bottle feeding or whatever else they want, when it becomes relevant to their lives. The fact that others have already discussed the topic or are bored of the subject is really beside the point.

PeggysEvilTwin · 03/09/2010 15:53

I was going to ask a really obscure question about skinless sausages.... Shan't bother now.
