Am on hols and just went to top up on essentials at local shop. They have some delicious looking cream teas (plated and covered in cling film) including the obligatory pot of fresh Cornish clotted cream - .

The plates were warm and of course, so were the pots of cream.

Being phobic about any sort of sickness I asked whether this did not pose a risk of food poisoning. I was told that the cream sellers had assured them that as long as the cream was placed in the fridge overnight then it would be perfectly ok.

I would not go near it with a barge pole and would recommend that anyone within my vicinity do the same, but that's just me.

Am I being unreasonable here? What do you all think?

I'd eat it. The fat content would, I am sure, retard any bacterial growth.

YABU 'cos now I want a clotted cream tea.

I don't think it would bother me and I would eat it - but I probably would have raised it as an issue like you

Are you having a nice time?
where are you?

If dairy products are off, they taste rank. If they taste ok, they are ok.

God there are a load of mimsies on MN

Mimsies Grin. You're dead right - that describes me to a tee!!

Having a lovely time thanks laughingravey and am now on Trevose Head. Home tomorrow though and that sucks Sad. Can't wait to retrieve dog from Vets though Smile.

I'm a real wus (spelling??) when it comes to anything outside the box foodwise and get into a right state so it's good to know that fat and bacteria thing so thanks for that colditz.
