to wish the female GMTV presenters would dress appropriately?

I am fed up with turning on my TV for the news and weather at 6 am to see these women dressed as if they are off out for the night - the weatherwoman's dress yesterday was all frilly sleeves and cleavage. Daft I know but very offputting - today it's Myleene's shoulder - no thanks, just news and weather please!

And none of them can cook for toffee.

charlieliz · 02/09/2010 09:11

Watch BBC Breakfast instead!

rey · 02/09/2010 09:33

sometimes on bbc they also dress as if they are going out for the evening or even to a wedding!

Megatron · 02/09/2010 09:46

Aw I quite like to see the pretty frocks. Blush

mayorquimby · 02/09/2010 10:35

can this go for women in offices as well? don't turn on the heating because you're cold when you've decided to wear a skirt and a string top to work, I have to wear an effing suit and tie and I'm sweltering.

cyteen · 02/09/2010 10:43

Personally I would like to see themed fancy dress for all breakfast television presenters.

Katisha · 02/09/2010 10:49

They must be of the ASOS persuasion, where
this sort of thing is described as "workwear"...

PaulineCampbellJones · 02/09/2010 10:51

I bet Bleakley is all tiny shiny tight and bright when she starts on Monday.

ThatDamnDog · 02/09/2010 10:51

Bloody hell Katisha, you can almost see her flaps!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/09/2010 11:09

I accidentally watched a few minutes of The One Show the other night, to see Manford look smart casual, open shirt, friendly. And girl-pants looked like she was off for a night on the town. Breasts out, low cut top, sparkly shit, make up, hair, the full works.

Put me right off my dinner.

fatheadsgirl · 02/09/2010 11:22

Short of these women turning up in their underwear or in some sort of S&M get up then I really don't see the problem. So what if they're a bit dressed up. I was under the impression that it was 2010 and that women had the right to choose how they expressed themselves. If that means a bit more cleavage and eyeliner then so what, her choice. I believe you still get the news and the weather regardless of how they're dressed. Although I would never myself go to work in something like what Katisha showed us but whats the harm in those that do, seriously? Sorry OP but I think YABU, change the channel or listen to the news and weather on the radio.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/09/2010 12:24

fathead - the thing is, these women DON'T dreaa themselves. There is no way that Bleakley dresses herself for her show. She is dressed like that and made-up like that by the wardrobe people. And they dress her like that for a reason.

Ladyanonymous · 02/09/2010 15:18

I always think they get "dressed" in clothes a lot older than the women are.

Holly Willoughby is always dressed like a bloody 50 yr old woman.

That GMTV women does my head in Emma is it? Soooo bloody patronising to anyone slightly older than herself explaining "oh bless" to anyone over 45 and speaking to them as if they have limited intelligence.

apols to Mr O Wilde

MrsMoosickle · 02/09/2010 20:29

Carrie and David in that bloody PopShop toot have worn the same clothes in each episode! I hate the programme and I hate her purple blouse.

tethersend · 02/09/2010 20:35

Carrie and David drive me fucking insane. They have spliced the programme together and so have to wear the same clothes for continuity's sake.

If you look into their eyes you can see their self respect slowly slipping away. And not just because of the shit clothes. Although mostly because of the shit clothes.

I bet they cry themselves to sleep at night.

MrsMoosickle · 02/09/2010 20:40

I hope they cry themselves to sleep at night.

tethersend · 02/09/2010 20:43

Well I'm almost certain they don't have sex. With each other.

TheCrackFox · 02/09/2010 20:45

Listen to the radio?

Summerbird73 · 02/09/2010 20:48

ladyanon Emma drives me bonkers as well for the same reason - if i have heard her say once she cant remember the 80s i have heard it a million times!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/09/2010 21:07

They might be having sex with that puppet dog.

LordPanofthePeaks · 02/09/2010 21:49

What is the problem here? Are we living in some sack cloth and ashes time and space continuum? They look professional, sometimes quite sharp, and yes they are 'televisual'. Give it a rest. They know how to interview, maintain a good rapport with their partners, ahve to be fast on their feet, as it werre - criticism of smart clothing is just mealy-mouthed dull puritanism.
So there.
