to let the kids play out on their bikes?

This summer, the girls have made friends with some of the children in the street, and have been out playing hide and seek, It, stuck in the mud, and races on their bikes. I have my windows open and keep an eye for any naughtiness, bad behaviour (had to tell some kids of ffor throwing stones last week at the BT box, but thats about it). there are about 10 kids, mainly girls between the ages of 5 and 10 out there. They have been playing nicely, no argueing etc.

The weather has been bad the last week or so, so they have played out 2 days this week.

Both days, a man at the bottom of the street has been yelling at them to shut up :(

They arent being excessively loud, but as girls it can get a little high pitched.

Most of the kids arent out before 10am, and most go in at 5-6pm for dinner, and dont go back out.

I have told thwem to play this side of the house, and not go down the bottom of the cul-de-sac where the mans house is. but 2 of their friends are down that end.

i notice he doesnt yell at the teenagers playing football till 10-11 at night, or the ones yelling and running round the street at 2am.

and fwiw, when i moved here, we had a lot of petty vandalism and issues from some kids, involving them pulling down trees and smashing up glass in the street. The girls out there arent doing anything of the sort.

just dont know what to do.

Let them play..theres always one that moans

Bloodymary · 27/08/2010 17:50

Oh I agree with the above comment! Much healthier to play outside, we always used to.
Tho sadly, there is always one who wants too moan.

Fluffypoms · 27/08/2010 17:54

you always get one..sod him.

TheCrackFox · 27/08/2010 17:58

Let them play.

FWIW (after years of scientific study) the sort of tossers who complain about children playing outside are the same sort who read the Daily Mail and tut loudly about the obesity crisis in children.

RunawayWife · 27/08/2010 18:00

tell hime to shut up and fuck off

spikeycow · 27/08/2010 18:01

You could go and tell him to shut up and stop intimidating children?

misdee · 27/08/2010 18:08

very tempted to spikey.

or post him some earplugs through the door.

arrrgh, now dd1 got 'told off' by a teenager in the next street for making noise at 7.30 this morning. they werent even awake at 7.30, as they slept till 8.30, and arent allowed in the garden till at least 9am.
