She also wants me to employ her sister as a cleaner, cash in hand. We can afford it, and our house will keep her busy until the end of time.

Well, Piss Grin, the word is mischievous, not mischevious. Please don't be one of those people who pronounces it "miss-chee-vee-us" as well as a fake tax-dodger. I feel entitled to say that since it was a not-so-hilarious joke thread and I'm feeling pedantic and mean.

knickers0nmyhead · 27/08/2010 18:08

Oh yes, I had my I in the wrong place didn't I?

knickers0nmyhead · 27/08/2010 18:13

May and Thanks. Capital letter at the start of a sentence please. Hmm

knickers0nmyhead · 27/08/2010 18:14

Correct your own grammar and punctuation before my own in future ok?

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 18:15

Do you often spank knickers Lady, or is it just a Friday thing?

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/08/2010 18:17

ah, just fridays. my catsuit gets too sweaty for daily usage.

FluffyCut · 27/08/2010 18:25

not having a hand free to press caps lock because im feeding a baby is hardly the same as thinking 'of' should be used instead of 'have' is it? Hmm

there again you thought this thread was funny which it quite clearly isn't.

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 18:28

Naked spanking not on then?

knickers0nmyhead · 27/08/2010 18:33

Oh get a grip Fluffy, I made a mistake. If you go through my posting history you will see I have made one, maybe two mistakes with grammar in the last 3 years being on here.

And 'shift' and the letter you want will give you a capital letter, just in case you did not know.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/08/2010 18:47

loopy, nah... if you're gonna do it, do it properly Wink!

fluffy, get a grip woman!!

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 18:49

It's giving me a chuckle.

Seriously though, no-one replied to my earlier post at 18.04. :(

unfitmother · 27/08/2010 18:50

Yawn..

knickers0nmyhead · 27/08/2010 18:52

The duster is incapable of such responsibility.

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 18:52

Really? Even if I pay it?

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/08/2010 18:53

yep, far too yellow-bellied!

AgentZigzag · 27/08/2010 19:20

Here's me handing out my opinion willy nilly to a troll Shock

I'll expect payment for it on this occasion...shall we say £4.50 per post and unlimited use of your shower and kitchen? Smile

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 19:30

Yo do realise that's illegal Agent? Who will pay your National Insurance contributions?

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/08/2010 19:33

and do you have a sister to help?

AgentZigzag · 27/08/2010 19:37

Ach, it's only little old me loopy, nobody would notice

sapphireblue · 27/08/2010 19:41

I have just wasted 5 minutes of my life on this thread!

Shriekable · 27/08/2010 20:08

As someone who works for the benefits agency I think you need to be EXTREMELY careful - I have seen people (some innocent, some - like you, not so innocent) dragged into benefit fraud cases. Do you want to deal with the hassle and embarrassment that could land on your lap in the future? I think a lot of people pay cash in hand and just think that it's up to the person they are 'employing' to sort out tax, NI etc, but in the majority of cases the reason they want cash is because they are not paying these. Does it not bother you that you are helping someone avoid paying for the services that they are obviously using - healthcare, welfare, even libraries, policing, schools, etc? If the crap hits the fan, it's going to be her word against yours regarding evading tax and NI payments, and it doesn't sound like you would have a leg to stand on - especially if you also employ her sister. Money doesn't seem to be an issue, so I really would tell her that this needs to be above board. Chances are she is already signing on for either Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, or Incapacity Benefit and you are handing over pocket money. Fraud is being committed here, and you are in it up to your neck. STOP NOW and tell her she has to go legitimate - as other threads have mentioned it will get around and you will be amazed at how many benefit fraud cases are started by someone ringing the hotline to report something they have heard through the grapevine. Don't you get angry when you see those cases on the news about people claiming benefit and having a job on the side? No wonder we've got such a huge defecit when there are people like you knowingly assisting benefit fraud. Shame on you.

loopyloops · 27/08/2010 20:23

Is that post aimed at the duster Shriek? Cos she's pulled out of the deal.

lady007pink · 27/08/2010 20:24

There is a clampdown in Ireland about paying childminders who mind children in the children's own home cash in hand. They are then regarded as your employee and you must register them for tax and PRSI (equivalent to NI contributions in the UK).

What has happened is that when the childminder is no longer employed, they try to register for social welfare but can't unless they have an employment record. So they declare their work, and the employer i.e, somebody like yourself - is suddenly liable to backpay all the tax and prsi they should have paid during the childmnder's employment. Bit messy.

The rules may be different in the uk though.
