Firstly my ds is nearly 4 but a terrible sleeper so i cherish every minute of sleep i can get.
We have 4 bins and so on 4 times a week i get woken by the binmen at 7am and if that isnt bad enough someone off our estate i presume someone who works for the binmen comes even earlier around 6am lining all the bins up making a right racket so i get woken up twice all the time thinking why so early?????
Would this annoy anyone else?

I'd get used to it. Our binmen come at 7 and it doesn't disturb me anymore.
You're lucky to still have weekly bin collections!

7am is not early for a week day.

YABU.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/08/2010 09:41

4 times a week? Why on earth so many bins, what are they all??

Goblinchild · 26/08/2010 09:45

Let me guess:
landfill
paper
plastic and tins
food waste

7am is when the workday starts for many people.
In our area, the householder has to have the bins out by 7am or they aren't collected.

Sorry your ds is a poor sleeper though, hope he grows out of that soon. Smile

The glass ones make such an unholy racket don't they? I live on quite a busy road so I have got used to most noises, but the glass recycling collection wakes me up every time with all that smashing!

I guess there's no really good time to do a waste collection though, during rush hour or school run time the lorries block the roads, too late in the day and the bags/bins left out might start to pong a bit and/or look messy.

mrshess · 26/08/2010 10:01

Sorry meant 4 times a fortnight, the bins are non recyclable, paper and cardboard, tins and glass and garden waste.
I guess i am being unreasonable as i wouldnt have a problem if my son slept through.

YABU. You're lucky to have such regular collections (& they do glass too?! Envy )

Our binmen come at about 5am.

The rest of the world is generally gearing up for work at this time and doesnt actually revolve around your 4 year olds poor sleep pattern so yabu.

I don't think binmen can ever get it right. I've lost count of the number of times I've been stuck at the end of our cul-de-sac whilst the bin lorry is parked at the other end and the binmen walk around collecting all the bins. It's always when I need to get the DTs to nursery and then go on to work myself.

Oh, and then they just dump the bins near to where their lorry was, rather than returning them to the correct houses.
