AIBU to insist on clarks shoes for 13 yr old dd

she says i am

i say its not negotiable. clarks do some nice trendy ballet shoe type efforts now in any case. last year hers lasted ages, were so comfy i would have nicked them for myself. they were lovely and trendy, little ballet slippers with a stone on the front with a dainty little strap across....nothing not to like and almost the same as anything you could pick up in New Look

when i was 13 i was wearing shoes 2 sizes too small. i never got my feet measured and i never got new shoes. im pretty insistent on having decent well fitting shoes for DD, who is sulking cos clarks shoes just are not kool...she is a size bigger than i am now but a very narrow fit.

aibu?

If she doesn't want to wear them I wouldn't make her/convince her.

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/08/2010 00:26

Vicar - those clarkes shoes you linked to are fucking horrific. I'm well into 'sensible shoe' territory and even i wouldn't wear those (and I wear skechers, so I have little savvy for these things)

jellybeans · 24/08/2010 00:26

I agree the Clarks look much less trendy and more primary. Not worth the risk of being laughed at. At some point she will wear crap shoes, and at least it is not heels..

IMoveTheStars · 24/08/2010 00:27

*Clarks

IMoveTheStars · 24/08/2010 00:28

AndTheHorseYouRodeInOn - they're awful, sorry :(

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/08/2010 00:29

did i mention enough times she has a very narrow width fitting....

most ballet slipper type things are too wide. need a trendy shoe with a narrow width...

will check out skechers....hush puppies will be a no go i can feel it in my bones....she doesnt like chunky.

SlartyBartFast · 24/08/2010 00:36

what about these

they are lace up and therefore accommodate a narrow foot?

Mowiol · 24/08/2010 00:37

VicarInaTuTu - narrow fitting will be a nightmare. You will have to try independant shop and it will probably cost! There was a narrow foot thread a while ago and I posted about a company I deal with but they are not so very trendy unfortunately. However they DO do ballet pumps and have a website. Very expensive though. Also I fear they may be not trendy enough but you could have a quick look at the site. Narrow feet are a nightmare problem I know!!

Vicar - would these be too horrific for her?

(I'm size 5 narrow feet, and I love my pair of these)

SlartyBartFast · 24/08/2010 00:40

i spose you will have to let her learn perhaps vicar,, buy new look and see how they fall off/ wear out for eg..

brimfull · 24/08/2010 00:42

Mowiol · 24/08/2010 00:42
