Shock what a horrible thing to do! Its lucky the owners found it before the bins were emptied

emptyshell · 23/08/2010 22:34

We had a family pet for years who was rescued from a skip as a tiny tiny kitten. She died of old age having lived a very happy and lazy life as our resident mog.

I would like to shut the woman who did this into the bin herself - especially since she was so callous as to pet the poor moggie before she did it. I don't care if it's "only a cat" to some of the people on here who can't see past the end of their noses - it's a living creature and didn't deserve that, hell - I'm distinctly not a dog person but wouldn't want to wish it on a dog either.

musicmadness · 23/08/2010 23:02

What a horrible person. Cruelty to animals is one of the few things that makes me think that wanting an eye for an eye is appropriate (if it was up to me cruelty to animals would have much harsher punishments anyway). Hurting something that can't fight back is despicable behaviour.

ragged · 24/08/2010 09:43

It's only a cat, a human being (even a degenerate one) is worth more than the fate of a cat. What happened to that cat is nothing compared to routine practices in the pet-breeding and farm livestock industries in this country. Let the woman be prosecuted (how has she not been caught by now??), but don't call me a "twat" for suggesting that some of the suggested retaliations on this thread are excessive.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 09:50

Depends on you POV Ragged. I disagree.

And I stand by what I said - if you think that is excusable, you are. However, I'm sure you don't think it's OK, in which case I don't think you are.

notrightnow · 24/08/2010 10:03

My first thought was that perhaps she is suffering from dementia or a mental illness ... all this vitriol is horrible...

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 10:28

"My first thought was that perhaps she is suffering from dementia or a mental illness ... all this vitriol is horrible..."

So that's okay then? After all, she's "only a cat". Hmm

Good God.

I don't give a stuff what the evil bitch might be suffering from frankly. I stand by what I said too - I'll happily volunteer to shove her in the dustbin and see how she fares for 16 hours.

I bloody well hope she mights my kind before she meets the bleeding heart brigade.

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 10:30

Better still, I hope that she meets my kind...

It's odd what my disgust for someone's disdain towards animals can do to my ability to type preoperly!

notrightnow · 24/08/2010 10:32

That's not what I wrote Vallhala - don't misquote me. It's not 'only a cat'. It's an an unfortunate animal that was treated badly. But this woman might be equally unfortunate, and I don't think that wishing violence on a person who harmed an animal is a rational or kind response.

I'm finding this thread really unpleasant.

GetOrfMoiLand · 24/08/2010 10:35

Agree with notright.

It is an unspeakably horrible thing to do. I would be distraught if this happened to my cat. But to want this woman to be 'villifed' a la News of the World 'campaign for justice' is just madness.

Thankfully an eye for an eye is not law in this country.

Some of the reactions on this thread are unhinged.

KickArseQueen · 24/08/2010 10:38

Hmmmm Just watched the footage a couple of times, She was reaching out to stroke the cat before she'd even got to it. As soon as the cat jumped up on the wall she looked round for the bin. Whatever her reasons for doing it, it looked premeditated to me.

Have any other cats gone missing in the area?

CerealOffender · 24/08/2010 10:39

i can't believe she hasn't been identified yet.

she will probably end up with her own reality tv show

emptyshell · 24/08/2010 10:40

She'll end up with something different if I got my hands on her.

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 10:41

I was quoting both you AND Ragged, notrightnow. I work with abused animals and am sick to death of excuses for cruelty towards them, just as much as I am sick of the paltry sentences handed down IF the perpetrators are prosecuted.

My 13.5 yo daughter has an additional idea - seal the lid down on the woman. I can't say I find much to disagree with there.

I'm finding this "pity or make excuses for the person who carried out a heartless, cruel act on a defenceless animal" outlook deeply unpleasant.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 10:41

I wonder if those people thinking reactions are OTT would think the same if it were a child...?

CerealOffender · 24/08/2010 10:42

ffs, of course it would be different if it were a child

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 10:47

Because a child is defenseless? Innocent?

Or because you like them more? Hmm

CerealOffender · 24/08/2010 10:49

of course i like children more you freakola.
cats are animals, i have a cat, i take good care of her etc but i take a lot better care of my daughter.

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 10:51

Bloody good point Loopyloops. Oh yes, of course it would be different had a child been dumped in the bin by the scruff of the neck and left there for SIXTEEN HOURS!

There is a difference. see.

Erm... child = vulnerable, small, not as intelligent as the average adult, not as strong as the average adult, feels fear, feels pain....

Cat = See above. Add fur.

Fur.

It's a funny thing, possession of which ime often causes people to justify or excuse the most abhorrent cruelty.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 10:53

Right... but does that make it OK to purposefully hurt them? Because you prefer your daughter? I prefer Valhalla to you but it doesn't mean I wouldn't be shocked, upset and angry if someone hurt you.

Compassion isn't a finite resource.

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 10:53

"of course i like children more you freakola."

Nice.

MadreInglese · 24/08/2010 10:54

I'm with notrightnow on this

I saw the clip on tv this morning and my first thought was that the woman must have been mentally ill to behave in such an odd way, in which case she needs helping not lynching

(and I love cats, we have 3)

I do actually hope that it turns out she does have some mental issue, because the thought that a sane person could do something like that is hideous

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/08/2010 10:55

She will get caught, the video is EVERYWHERE

Poor moggy Sad

Oblomov · 24/08/2010 11:00

Ha ha. "oh course i like children... freakola"
Grin
love it.

did anyone see the John Bishop thing on sat ? night. talking about parenting. i think it was natalie cassidy ? , eastenders, saying she didn't like anyone elses children.
atlast. i find a soulmate. shame its natalie cassidy-whatever-her-name-is.

Vallhala · 24/08/2010 11:06

I don't like other people's children, with few exceptions Oblomov. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to stuff this nasty cow into a wheelie bin if she did so to a child!
