to think that ADHD/ADD is a load of nonsense?

Are we really producing ever more kids with these conditions or do parents simply need to take back control and realise that, at times, all kids can be obnoxious, loud, defiant, restless and fidgety and that strictly enforced rules for behaviour, lots of TLC, and the occasional smack on the bum may be the way forward?

ADHD is a recognised disability Breton and you have been recognised as being unable to recognise this. Are you afflicited yourself with some kind of disability as you keep banging on about your unsubstansiated minority point of view with no empathy for parents of disabled children?

Tiredmumno1 · 24/08/2010 14:45

Look bret you posted on aibu, well most people think you are.

so be a dear and take it on the chin will you.

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 14:47

In fact Breton your parents bad parenting and obvious drug subscription to yourself are clear in your forum posts if your own ramblings are to be believed....

wasuup3000: "Freedom of expression is one thing Breton being disablist is another."

Where have I been "disablist" as you term it?

Or is the above merely code meaning that I have dared to express an alternative opinion?

OP posts:
wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 15:19

You have stated that you think ADHD and ADD are nonsense. As these are valid disabilities by not acknowledging their valid exsistence you are being disablist.
Would you say that Native Americans are nonsense for example?

Bret dear you are being really rude and badly behaved - your parents must be so proud of you and as I said earlier you are displaying some signs of a disability yourself.

To say that professionals who have trained for years to be consultants don't know how to do their job and diagnose "disorders" which can't be verified is quite frankly my dear a load of nonsense.

PheasantPlucker · 24/08/2010 15:30

Oh God, is she/he still here?

Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 15:32

wasuup3000: A very weak analogy.

There is proven and verifiable evidence for the existence of Native Americans.

Would you also contend that aliens and angels exist? After all, plenty of people claim to have seen, or been affected, by them? And there is a body of "evidence" out there that "proves" they do exist!

Breton, what make you think that you are in position to comment weather ADHD exists or not?

Professionals recognize it, the parents with children with ADHD are true here trying to explain to you what and how ADHD affect their children and is not that is something that all children have and they will eventually grow out of it .

You are entitled to express your opinion, but your opinions are stupid, don?t make any sense, arrogant, offensive and you should be ashamed of yourself.
I really don?t understand what are you trying to prove?

You are nobody and if you are so sure that it doesn?t exist, why you don?t try and prove all professionals wrong who have spent years in education and training, unlike you (no offence to other teachers), who hasn?t got anything better to do and comes here and offends genuine parents who are struggling enough as it is and don?t need your stupid and ignorant opinions.

sparky159 · 24/08/2010 15:48

i dont always put myself across too well-
sometimes i ill say something and others can be offended but after realising this-i say sorry as i dont intentionly mean to upset others.
other times-i say things and no one else knows what im on about-but i do-so i try and explain what i mean.

when i first saw this thread i thought that maybe the person writing it might have the same problem as me but as it went on it doesnt look like it to me[could be wrong though]
im finding it very hard to understand that on one hand-the op is saying that that she s worried about children but on the other hand-saying such awful things about children/parents-dont make sense-how can this be about being worried for children?
it seems more like-someone being on a personal vengance thing!

Breton-have you got some kind of "condition"?

arsani · 24/08/2010 15:58

yes, he`s got the evil condition

Eloise73 · 24/08/2010 16:03

Wow, are you a scientologist or something? You've obviously never spent a lot of time with any child with ADHD.

'might be a deliberately provocative title'? Idiot...

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 16:04

Weak anology or not Bret you are being disabilist and thats a fact not the fiction that you write.

sparky159 · 24/08/2010 16:09

Eloise73-
who-me?Confused

So you would wholeheartedly agree with the accepted views of trained medical professionals, including consultants and professors, that men could not exhibit symptoms of hysteria because they did not possess a uterus.

This view was current until the last part of the 19th century and the condition, which covered a myriad of symptoms and behaviours, was deemed to be an entirely feminine "problem".

OP posts:
claig · 24/08/2010 16:16

no sparky159, I think Eloise73 is referring to an early post of Breton1900 which said

"I used what I thought might be a deliberately provocative title and opening remark because I am extremely worried about the sheer number of diagnoses being made for these conditions..."

sparky159 · 24/08/2010 16:20

oh i seeBlush
thankyou Claig.

cornsillky · 24/08/2010 16:24

Now you really are clutching at straws Breton. Using examples from the 19th century to attempt to reinforce your argument? Just accept that you're a dickhead and move on.

pagwatch · 24/08/2010 16:26

Oh do fuck off now.

just about everyone on here thinks you are a total cunt and every post you write just converts even more.

You are just trying to upset people - Unless there is a cunt of the year award and you are rallying votes.

I will vote for you.
Anyone else? Perhaps then he will go somewhere else. Can't you go and annoy netmums or something?

cornsillky · 24/08/2010 16:27

Breton for cuntpower

Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 16:31

Of course another commonly held medical view in the nineteenth century was that women's brains were lighter than men's (by about 150g) because women required extra energy to maintain their ovaries.

Therefore to pursue any form of academic study would take energy away from the ovaries and cause them to shrivel which would result in
infertility!
