Probably no-one awake to tell me that I am being U but Angry

DH is out for the night and tbh I have trouble getting to sleep when he's not here (pathetic, I know) I finally doze off at about 1.30am...

then BAM! Taxi door shut, cue furious hammering on next-door's door. It's the estranged girlfriend from the "couple" next-door (they've been split up a couple of months and seemingly taking it in turn to live there), with a poor bloke in tow that she's blatantly picked up from the pub. She is screeching at her ex to get out so she can bring this bloke in, the poor bloke is hovering outside saying that maybe he should go, she is howling at him to stay. I can hear the ex telling her to calm down and go away, it's 2.30 in the morning etc etc. Eventually she screams him into submission and the poor chap leaves in trousers, no socks and his shirt not even on properly. She taunts him about fucking off to his mum and dads Hmm

The woman now has trapped bloke in the house and is clearly playing him a compilation of "sexy" music (i've heard her play it to another guy) Grin Then her dad turns up in a car that sounds like a damn tractor, hammering on the door asking why she's kicked her ex out, leaving his loud engine running the whole time. DS wakes up at this point.

What a cunt. I hate being woken up. I got my clothes on ready to go and bollock her but she seems quiet now. Now I'm wide awake.

She is on my list Angry

What a badly brought up young lady.

cupcakesandbunting · 22/08/2010 03:12

I've never spoken a word to the woman and I can't stand her. She seems like a spoiled little drama queen in need of a sound slap talking to.

Where on earth is her sense of responsibility. I hope you got back to sleep. I would call the police. Bolshy mare.

nomedoit · 22/08/2010 03:45

I would call the police. YANBU. I am a witch when I don't get my sleep, well more of a witch than normal. Hope you get some sleep!

sanielle · 22/08/2010 04:21

I would have called the police, not emergency number.,AND would fucking definitly go round tomorrow when you and DS wake up first thing and go banging on her door. You have every right even if you are polite about it you will still wake her up and piss her off and there is fuck all she can really say about it after waking you up!

MintyBadger · 22/08/2010 07:30

I know you are cross but your language is so violent. DO you often talk about giving people a 'smack' because they piss you off? I'd have a rethink there about anger levels if so.

jooseyfruit · 22/08/2010 07:40

yanbu.

I'd be having violent revenge fantasies too.

as the great custy once said, 'kick her in the fanjo and call her a cunt'.

disclaimer: don't actually kick her.

prozacfairy · 22/08/2010 07:40

YANBU but then again I would say that- I hate listening to other peoples' drunken arguments.

They all sound as bad as eachother imo. Her for being such a revolting human being, the bloke she brought back with her being such an easy lay, (if he had any sense he'd have hightailed it out of there) her ex for leaving the house when he shouldn't have to, and ofcourse the idiot who left his engine running while shouting his mouth off.

Hope you and DS manage to get some much needed shut eye at some point today.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 22/08/2010 07:42

Put Cbeebies on very loudly. See how she likes it!! Grin

Seriously though, I would be putting a complaint in, especially if this kind of thing is happening on a regular basis, keep notes of times and happenings.

Your local council will be able to investigate this.

SmellyPirateHooker · 22/08/2010 07:43

Well she sounds vile. However, "smack the cow next door" doesn't exactly leave you sounding great either.

I would probably hoover very loudly or failing that have a 'party' with DS.

compo · 22/08/2010 07:45

If it's a one off I wouldn't bother complaining
we all do mad things when drunk

she'll have one hell of a hangover so release ds into the garden asap

one of the other neighbours will probably complain

LoveBeingInBed · 22/08/2010 08:05

yuck yuck yuck

Debs75 · 22/08/2010 08:18

Complain definietly. I have been up since 3am as week old baby woke for a feed and next door were still playing crap music with all windows open so coulod hear it. 45 mins later DC3 woke and would not settle so Dp had to take her downstairs whilst i settled baby. At 5 I relieved him as he is out with DS for the day and needs some rest. We could still hear the music/tv blaring. Dc3 finally went to sleep at 7 but woke at 8. I am currently wondering how I will manage with newborn and 2 dc's for the day on 4 hours sleep.

TheBountyMuncher · 22/08/2010 08:35

I'm pretty sure that this is what Carrie and Davids' popshop was invented for. (why else so early on a sunday morning?!)

Put it on, loud
Let Carrie demand to know whether she wants some cool RnB?

Sorry you've had such a bad night.

kslatts · 22/08/2010 08:49

If it's a regular occurence then I'd complain or call the police next time it happens.

If it's a one-off I'd let it go.

Appletrees · 22/08/2010 08:57

There should be a law: no loud music without a licence after eleven pm.

Psammead · 22/08/2010 09:08

I need to go back to bed. I thought you meant an actual cow as in MOOOOO.

She sounds awful. I agree there should be a law.

MintyBadger · 22/08/2010 09:26

There is a law, there's breach of the peace for starters.

cupcakesandbunting · 22/08/2010 10:09

Obviously "give her a smack" was hyperbole. Didn't think I'd need to clarify!

Didn't get much proper sleep after that so I thought I'd share the fortune with old drama queen next door and treated her to a bit of Queens of the Stone Age at full throttle at 8am :)

Childish? Yes. Unreasonable? Absolutely.

YABU by default because you have used a horrible title to your thread. "Smack the cow next door" is just horrid.

YANBU to feel cross though.

And I have trouble getting to sleep when my h is away too, so sympathies.

sanielle · 22/08/2010 10:37

WHy is unreasonable to want to smack someone? If she had smacked her, YES that would be unreasonable. Wanting and doing are two different things!

YANBU for waking her up this mornign either! please go round today too! Make sure she knows everyone in the neighborhood has heard what a skank she was last night

jelliebellie16 · 22/08/2010 10:43

I feel your pain, i have awful neighbours.

I put up with it for months and finally complained to the council and I had to record their music, arguing and door slamming etc with a microphone contraption they provided. I felt like inspector Morse or something Grin

Said music stopped for a while, now I just hammer on the door!

Needless to say, we don't meet up for tea and cake!

YANBU and should definitely have a polite word. Maybe just say something along the lines of "I have small DCs, would you mind perhaps keeping the noise down in the night please, if it happens again I'll have no option but to complain..."

Many sympathies :)

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 22/08/2010 10:49

Stick your favourite music on as loud as you can, I bet she's still in bed asleep.

I have a noisy neighbour aswell, it's a nightmare, he revs his car up at 1am, bangs patio doors at 5 am, I can't wait to move.

KarmaAngel · 22/08/2010 10:53

YADNBU We had nightmare neighbours who have thankfully now moved out. The crazy bitch would be playing hip hop (the stuff with the foul language) nearly 24 hours a day, at full blast (think club volume), with her 4 young children asleep (or not Hmm) in the house. Angry

One particular time the music started at 8pm and went on until 6am. We were all up all night because of it. I waited until around 8am when I was sure she would be asleep and then banged and banged on her door until she got up. I told her I thought I would just wake her up as she had kept us up all night, and that I would be treating her to Nirvana at full volume for most of the day. I then left the CD playing on repeat while we went out all day. (Neighbours on other side were on holiday). Childish yes but god it felt bloody good! Grin
