Pee Pee Max Dog Toy

AIBU to be just slightly shocked this morning by an advert on Milkshake for a toy dog that drinks then wees? If that wasn't bad enough the children then proceded to take the dog for a walk where it peed on a policeman's shoe and in the face of a man coming out of a manhole - what is this teaching our children? What do people think of this? We have problems enough in our village with dog owners not picking up their pets poo - it makes me so angry Angry

OMG i missed that the wee wee pooch that is disgusting...

also check out the prices of those toys on Milkshake you have to be seriously rich to afford some of those toys £60 for a plastic camera? come again!!!

bobinsky · 20/08/2010 15:27

and those cameras really aren't that good either. But you are right Sarahpo, virtually all toys on milkshake adverts are very expensive

Itsjustafleshwound · 20/08/2010 15:31

I had to as I thought I was dreaming it up...

Shame on the parents who actually buy this sort of crud for their kids

bobinsky · 20/08/2010 15:48

Have just googled it myself and see it's got a facebook page. I won't be liking that. Itsjustafleshwound - I agree with you - but it's the way it has been advertised that shocks me.

I agree in fact I am logging a complaint with asa as I find it so repetitive and irritating! It's on nick jr. at least once and hour and I think it does not conform to advertising that I would like my children to see - it encourages the anti-social behavior and lack of respect of those around us. Pee pee max is one thing - showing him pee'ing on a service mans head and a policeman's foot is more adult humor and should not be portrayed to a child as young as 3!

WhyHavePets · 30/10/2010 18:16

Years ago Barbie came with a dog that ate treats then pooed...I suppose this is just the next generation!

PhishFoodAddiction · 30/10/2010 18:23

YANBU. I find these toys revolting. In the ad the toy dog pees on a policeman's foot?! That'll teach kids to respect the law...

I hate the adverts on milkshake. There are about 6 peppa pig adverts in each break. Some of them twice in the same break. Sigh. The DDs laugh at me tearing my hair going 'there's another peppa advert' in progressively higher voice each time. Until I can't stand it any longer and go back to cbeebies.

Sarahpo I agree with the overpricedness (if that's a word), my DDs love that Stinky the garbage truck toy that was on milkshake a while back, it cost £60!! Shock Don't think Santa will be bringing that!

WhoAteAgentZigzagsBrain · 30/10/2010 18:40

I've always been a bit Confused and Hmm at shitting and pissing Barbie dogs.

They must know that children love this kind of crap.

theoldtrout01876 · 30/10/2010 18:55

ExH bought that dog for Dd about 5 years ago,she was desperate for it but I refused to buy any more tat.It lasted about 2 hours before it broke and stopped peeing, Worth every penny I guess

kitcat83 · 30/10/2010 19:04

every time that advert comes on my ds(3.6) says "thatss bisgustin!!"Grin
absolutely vile toy Confused

Doigthebountyeater · 30/10/2010 19:24

Back in ye olden days in the 70s my sister and I had Tiny Tears dolls (are they still around?) We used to strip them naked, make them drink their bottles of water, then, when they were full up, we'd punch them repeatedly in the stomach and make their weewee come jetting out their little fanjo hole like a water pistol at each other. It was hilarious!

Btw, I am not writing this from a Broadmoor institution - rather I am a mum to 2 lovely DSs and am a qualified teacher also. You see ladies, children have this amazing capacity to differentiate between fantasy and reality.

So what if the dog weewees everywhere?
Personally I think it is gross in a funny way and since most kids love wee and poo stuff, no doubt the toy will be v.popular!

katkouta · 30/10/2010 19:29

Isnt it Pipi Max that you mean? I dont think its an affiliate of barbie, I always end up singing the bloody jingle!

Bingtata · 30/10/2010 19:34

I think you are making more out if it than you need to. I'm not sure a dog weeing on a policeman's head is adult humour actually. Imagine one your friends finding that funny?

It makes my 4 year old DD laugh, mainly because she knows it is naughty and children love naughtiness by proxy precisely because, as Doigthebountyeater (fab name BTW) says they can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Does a toy dog peeing on a pretend policeman's head mean that DD will have no respect for the law? No, not anymore than me reading her George's Marvellous Medicine makes her want to blow up her Grandma.

Got a reply from ASA thought i would share it

"Thank you for contacting the advertising standards agency. I'm sorry to hear that this ad has caused you concern.

We've carefully considered your complaint and the ad in question, but should tell you that there does not seam to be a case to answer under the code on this occasion. Whilst i do appreciate your concerns, we note that as the product is a toy dog that pees the ad is portrayed as very slapstick in style. No one looks offended or hurt by the dogs actions and we do not think this is likely to encourage children to disrespect figures of authority or go against parental guidance. Given this, we consider that the ad is unlikely to cause serious or widespread offense or harm.

It may worth noting that we've received only one other complaint about this ad, so it does seem to suggest that your concerns arn't widely shared. Whilst the number of complaints received isn't our primary concern, it is part of the picture in cases such as this.

Although we don't propose further action, I'd like to thank you for taking the trouble to raise your concerns with us."

If you disagree make sure to log a complaint with the asa on their website as it's free and they will respond personally to each complaint they get. There is nothing more I can do except share this with you ladies and have you discuss and take further actions if you wish.

MaDuggar · 08/11/2010 15:06

My 2 year old sings this all day and wants one from Santa :(

loonies · 08/11/2010 15:14

Sounds very funny

SocialButterfly · 08/11/2010 16:53

You really complained to the asa about a toy dog that wees on a policemans foot?? lol I havent seen it but think it sounds quite funny [childish emotion]

Tidey · 08/11/2010 16:57

Sounds rubbish, but I always thought that about dolls that pee too. The Barbie dog that pooed was a bit gross but the point was to pick up after it so I suppose that's quite responsible. It's the Barbie dog swimming training pool that really baffles me. I had no idea that dogs needed swimming lessons Confused

belgo · 08/11/2010 17:01

Not half as bad as the pooing dog
