YANBU. It would feel plain wrong chucking them out...plain wrong! (also agree with handy catfood lid thing- they are geniuses)

GeneralissimoVonBobbington · 20/08/2010 12:20

i'm glad I am not the only one who has to be prised away from gently persuaded not to collect any more Gu ramekins

sloany I have inherited a worrying number of McDonald's coke glasses from a relative's flat. Maybe he didn't have a Big Mac addiction as we initially thought, perhaps the glasses were in fact surreptitiously breeding in his kitchen cupboards.

Whoops - I didn't mean to revive a zombie threadBlush

YelloDraw · 17/11/2016 12:07

Yeah I use them. And mustard glasses. And cornichon glasses.

Amalfimamma · 17/11/2016 12:10

Almost every household in italy has at least 2 sets of Nutella glasses

blackhairbrush "Whoops - I didn't mean to revive a zombie thread"

I'm intrigued. How do you accidentally revive a zombie thread?

Yes, I know I shouldn't have bumped this one to ask, but I truly don't understand accidentally posting on a thread that's 6 years old!

WilliamHerschel · 17/11/2016 12:13

We use them. I love them. It makes me feel like I've won a prize when I get the glass jars.

WilliamHerschel · 17/11/2016 12:14

Oh it's a zombie!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/11/2016 12:15

Grin I think she must have searched this thread out looking for proof of my assertion that surely every MNer had a set of Nutella glasses not just her.

Gowgirl · 17/11/2016 12:16

I use them for wineBlush the 'good' wine glasses only come out at Christmas and the cheap ones kept breaking in the dishwasher...

Carriecakes80 · 17/11/2016 12:26

Lol we use the jar for our glasses, and the lid covers up beans/cat-food/any open tin in the fridge too! Perfecto! Also, you can get the kids to decorate the glasses with the right pens/paints! We've given some away as gifts lol

HappyAxolotl · 17/11/2016 12:27

Go in any French household and they have a cupboardful of the things. I suspect French children are born clutching a Nutella jar fruit juice glass. They often come with cartoon characters on them.

starsorwater · 17/11/2016 12:28

Of course, everyone here uses them, no age restrictions!

Oldraver · 17/11/2016 12:31

I bought a set of 6 from a charity shop a year or so ago..and there were a few more sets on sale

Katedotness1963 · 17/11/2016 12:33

That's the point of the wee ones, isn't it?

BratFarrarsPony · 17/11/2016 12:34

that is why they are designed like that, isnt it?....Confused

NotdeadyetBOING · 17/11/2016 12:38

Of course! They are perfect for that which is how I justify guzzling so much of the stuff

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 17/11/2016 12:48

Yeah, that is the point of them and has been for decades. We were drinking out of old Nutella glasses (or possibly even Nutch, an early competitor) back in the 1970s/80s.

Ignore your DH.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 17/11/2016 12:49

Bah, just realised it's a zombie thread, but no matter.

Most of my early glasses were Esso glasses - I still have some of the sherry glasses, and a couple of the champagne flutes! Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 17/11/2016 12:56

The craze over the past few years for serving drinks in jam jars in expensive bars dates the original thread as utilsing old food jars as drinking vessels now is seen as the height of stylishness and no-one would ever say it is a sign of poverty, which has always been a ridiculous opinion anyway as you can probably buy glasses from places like ikea for a lot less than the price of a jar of nutella.

We don't have any because we don't buy nutella, but I like the idea of re-purposing the jars so much that I might look for some in charity shops.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/11/2016 12:59

I don't drink out of them but I do use them (with the lid on) to mix vinegrette
