DS1 is nearly 10, and still smells like a newborn Grin DS2's head smelt of bacon as a newborn, and now he just generally smells Grin

PollyTechnique · 18/08/2010 16:34

Oh, yes, I like to bury my face and inhale dd's used pyjamas when she's away on a school trip or sleepover - delish!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 18/08/2010 16:41

DD still smells beautiful at 9 mo...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 18/08/2010 16:47

Newborn smell is slightly biscuity. Same as puppies!

I still like to get a whiff of DS's head now and he's almost four.
My sister is due in January cant wait to get a good sniff of the baby's head, which reminds me of when my nephew was born, she came back from the hospital with him and I was having a good old cuddle and took a big sniff of his head and exclaimed about how beautiful he smelt, all the while brushing of flakes of god know what off his head, she then informed me that he hadnt had a bath yet, this was before I had kids so needless to say I handed him back sharpish!

snugglejunkie · 18/08/2010 16:56

You are sooooo not BU.

DH accused me of turning into a cat when DS was newborn - I was contantly sniffing him in my arms, and had been known to even unconciously lick the top of his head Confused Blush

And their breath is just the sweetest Smile Smile.

Fayrazzled · 18/08/2010 17:05

I didn't get the baby smell with my own babies- they just smelt faintly of wet dog!

I love the smell of them now.

Doigthebountyeater · 18/08/2010 18:07

Another vote for bacon. DS1 smelt of bacon until I bathed him and I was too ashamed to tell anyone that the smell made me feel a bit sick Blush

skyeplusbump · 18/08/2010 18:33

awwwhhh, i forgot about the smellSmile

come on baby...

GET OUT!!!

shdad · 18/08/2010 18:41

DS smelt of chips. That was because we were putting oil on his head for the cradle cap but only washing it with water. Blush

His head smells lovely now at 7 months - but sadly his face & breath smell of whatever he had for his last meal, even when washed/teeth brushed. Sardines on toast were not a good idea.

CurlyCasperBaggedABairn · 18/08/2010 20:08

Mine is 8 weeks and does smell gorgeous, except for the acid breath that comes with reflux, and the sour milk neck from where she dribbles it then won't let me in to clean. Grin

Don't remember anything nice about her actual newborn smell - because she was in transition care and |I wasn't allowed to bath her until she was regulating her body temp. She spent the first 24 hours covered in bits of blood, poor thing.

I love, love, love puppy smell.

Morloth · 18/08/2010 20:41

Puppy breath is nice, DS2 does still have puppy breath.

ohnelly · 18/08/2010 21:50

Im going upstairs now to sniff ds2s head before bed....................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

UnrequitedSkink · 18/08/2010 21:59

DS is 10 weeks and I sniff and kiss his head constantly. People must think I'm wierd.

Snobear is just trying to be controversial I think.

CakeandRoses · 18/08/2010 22:03

Sniffing my 3 week old's head now. Mmmmm Smile

Still adore the smell of DS's hair too, he's nearly two.

fernie3 · 18/08/2010 22:04

My last three smelled really strongly of "baby" but I keep smelling my newest baby (who is now two weeks) and she doesnt smell of anything, even right after she was born she was wierdly odourless Hmm

Rindercella · 18/08/2010 22:08

YANBU. Obviously.

Thankfully my 20 week old still smells as scrumptious.

maristella · 18/08/2010 22:08

i still sniff DS' neck and he's almost a teen Grin
he thinks i'm the weirdest person on the planet!
he has long lost his sweet baby breath and his feet smell shocking, but his neck just captures his loveliness :)
feeling utterly broody right now Confused

But you see zapostrophe, your fact is not my fact. Both of my beautiful newborn DDs smelt just scrummy. Not of fanjo at all. With DD1 I was somewhat suprised how this could be so, but it was.

Tis one of the miracles of birth - that a baby can be born and not smell of fanjo and blood and gore and goo - but instead smell utterly, utterly gorgeous.

cyteen · 18/08/2010 22:31

Just popped back to say helloooooo to Rinders :) How are you? My best wishes to you and family.
