to be unhappy that my dentures have broken (only 8 months old) and probably won't be fixed in time to go on holiday

Is this the longest title on AIBU?

Ok, had super dupper new dentures made last December. They broke in Feb and where fixed. They have broken again. Due to my work commitments (and the fact the dentist is 45 miles away so can't just drop in, and the dental tech who made them only works 2 days per week) I can't get my nashers in till next Friday.

And I am going on hols the Wednesday after so there is no way they will be fixed. And I have only just made the last payment on them!!!

So be nice to me, cos I am in a really bad mood and would kick the cat (if I had one). May kick dh instead.

How awful for you Sad any chance you could have an emergency day off work? or risk posting them recorded delivery or something to get them fixed in time?

Really tight at work at the moment (people on hols, and I would feel mean trying to get a day off for dentures).

So, its back to old trusty NHS dentures (that I broke when I was on hols last year, but they are 20 years old). I got them fixed just in case!!!

So, if you are in florida and you see a Brit with the worst teeth in the world, say hello to agedknees!!

Have a look in the yellow pages for a lab near you, as some do Emergency Repairs.
Then give the reciept to your Dentist and demand a refund for the repair and a new pair of Dentures.
A set of dentures made less than a year ago should not keep breaking. It sounds as though they do not fit properly and therefore putting stress on the denture, causing them to keep breaking, also once a denture breaks the fracture line becomes a weak area and liable to break again.

Thanks for that Tas1. The first time they broke, a tooth fell off. Now one of the clasps has broken off (think I must have swallowed it).

dh says its because I talk too much so they get X4 the normal usage. Am seeing the funny side now. Every time I go on hols something happens to me ie. ear infection needing antibiotic injections, broken teeth, horrendous blisters on feet etc.

So maybe the bad luck is happening before I go on hols this time, instead of when I go on hols?
