To be a bit pissed off with this organisation even though I have been a bit slack?

I had a voucher to be exchanged for something. The voucher had an issue date on it and I thought it was valid for a year. Fecking thing was only valid for 10 months and the company have basically said, well, tough luck. OK I haven't really lost anything as the voucher was a prize rather than something I bought myself, but it's just thoroughly annoying, grr.

But ten months is a bit of a silly timeframe. Is it on the voucher that it's ten months? If not, then how were you supposed to know?

alarkaspree · 17/08/2010 14:28

No yanbu, vouchers that expire should have their expiration date WRITTEN ON THEM! And 10 months is ridiculous.

Unless it did have the expiration date written on it. Then yabu.

belgo · 17/08/2010 14:32

YANBU, a ten month deadline is just silly.

hairytriangle · 17/08/2010 14:32

YABVU. if they are valid for ten months, and you've missed it, then it's your fault.

SolidGoldBrass · 17/08/2010 14:34

It;s only in the very, very small print that the bloody thing is valid for 10 months not 1 - it;s basically a gift voucher to exchange for a free-entry pass, which would have been valid for a year from the date of the pass being issued.
And yes I am pissed off with myself, but still think it's silly of them.

It is so wrong that they have an expiry date, I would tell them that I won't be shopping there ever again if they don't honour it. It should be as good as money.

YANBU!

Have a word with head office.

belgo · 17/08/2010 14:36

Vouchers like this shouldn't have a dealine anyway. Money is the same money ten months ago as it is now.

SolidGoldBrass · 17/08/2010 19:31

I am going to return the voucher to the PR firm who sent it to me with a nice letter suggesting that as it never got used they might not have to pay for it... then they might feel sorry for me and send another one.
