To find this offensive.....

Another forum I am on... someone posted this remark...

'I gave him the old one two though and lost him on a large roundabout lol. How pathetic though! Stupid jealous who has to drive a crappy slow as hell 7 seater family car because he has never heard of contraception and cant stop his wife popping the kids out!!!

I sent the OP a private message telling her(yes, it's woman) to please think about editing her post as I found it deeply offensive.

I suppose me asking if I am being unreasonable is a bit too late now though Grin

But does anyone else find this offensive or am I overthinking things due to wine consumption tonight?

LackingInspiration · 14/08/2010 21:00

What? I don't understand what she was talking about...?

LucyLouLou · 14/08/2010 21:02

Need a bit more context really....:)

thelunar66 · 14/08/2010 21:03

Yeah... sorry... the quote is a bit out of context. I didnt want to post her whole rant as it was a bit long.

She was whining about some bloke's driving being bad and how he sat in the right hand lane, forcing her to under-take him because he wouldn't pull in.

oldmum42 · 14/08/2010 21:03

YANBU, IMO, but then, we have a crappy-seven-seater (old but still fairly fast actually), and 3.5 kids!

thelunar66 · 14/08/2010 21:04

It was her remarks about his wife that really made me think oh dear.

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 14/08/2010 21:05

I don't find it offensive exactly, but I do think she sounds both rude and stupid!

Goblinchild · 14/08/2010 21:06

So this sounds like a road rage sort of thing. The woman was being rude about the vehicle driven by the man.
You were insulted by her saying that he was driving a people carrier as a consequence of lust without contraception?
It's not from that childfree life website is it?
If so, you were daft going on there whilst drinking and expecting not to get wound up. Grin

thelunar66 · 14/08/2010 21:07

Rude and stupid... I should have said that instead of telling her I found her remarks about his wife 'popping' out kids offensive!

OP posts:
thelunar66 · 14/08/2010 21:08

no... it wasn't that awful child-free place Grin

Its a little motoring forum I am on. Normally very sane and sensible.

OP posts:
DramaInPyjamas · 14/08/2010 21:11

I don't really find it offensive really, just a bit stupid like the other posters.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 14/08/2010 21:11

I suppose it is a bit, but have you seen some of the things posted on here when people are having rants?

dried up old bastard
foul old hag
etc etc

When people are having a rant, they use insulting language to describe the person they are ranting about. It's not right, it's not big and it's not clever.

It's also why it's called ranting.

Sounds like an overly emotional reaction, but I'm not really offended by it tbh. That said, YANBU, because it is kinda harsh.

thelunar66 · 14/08/2010 21:40

Am going to re-read this in the morning, stone cold sober, and think... jeez what was I on about? Grin

OP posts:
southeastastra · 14/08/2010 21:43

i expect they posted it in a ranty mode - wouldn't take it seriously

DetectivePotato · 14/08/2010 21:44

I wouldn't have found it offensive. Just some total idiot ranting and acting like a prick.

MorrisZapp · 14/08/2010 21:45

Don't ever go to see any stand up comedy.

lal123 · 14/08/2010 21:46

This is the internet - there are lots of things that lots of people will find offensive on it. Live with it.

SolidGoldBrass · 14/08/2010 21:47

FFS what a very tedious life you must have if you can be bothered to get offended by something like that.

southeastastra · 14/08/2010 21:48

blimey no need to be rude to op, it's kinda of good to get offended now and again innit

tethersend · 14/08/2010 21:58

I'm shocked and saddened.

SolidGoldBrass · 14/08/2010 22:06

Oh it's good to offend. AN excellent stupidity-detector, in fact, people who are offended by silly little things are generally dimwits and No Fun.

scurryfunge · 14/08/2010 22:09

SGB, you are lovely aren't you?

scottishmummy · 14/08/2010 22:19

you sent email asking her to moderate posts.who made you editor in chief. so you were offended but isnt up to her to tippy toe around your sensibilities

i dont know why anyone takes discussion forums so damn seriously.she has different pov,so what.no biggie and not worth getting het up about

SolidGoldBrass · 14/08/2010 22:27

I find 'Fuck off you silly cunt' the most appropriate response to anyone who starts bleating that they are offended by light-hearted ranting that wasn't even directed at them.
With a bit of luck they will be so much more offended that their heads will explode.
