Do I have OCD?

Every day before I leave the house, I have to repeatedly check if i've closed the fridge door, the oven is off, and if all the taps are off and lights are off. Once i'm out the door, I have to check several times to make sure i've locked it.

This doesn't just happen once, but it takes me about 20 minutes to do all of this. I don't just check the once, but loads of times and it makes me upset and I am so hot and stressed by time I am going to work, or whereever i'm going, that on my days off, I prefer to stay home so I don't have to do all this.

Does anyone else does this, and if so, how do you cope?

I'm normal too- hurrah!!
Agree with ChippingIN that I'm very tidy/organised and hate disruotion to routine.
Whereas dd ticks a hell of a lot of those boxes Sad

Ughhhh, disruptions to routines!!! I go mad if this happens and strop about for ages. I hate last minutes changes to plans too. Does my head in big time!!!!

What's this test everyone is talking about? Can you take it online?

I think I am quite inclined to OCD, maybe don't exactly have it, but tend to check and recheck things several times, colour coordinate, clean a lot, wash my hands a lot... A bit OCD maybe :o

Happymum08 the test is here

Pixie, pure O is basically obsessive intrusive thoughts that cause people distress and often make them have to perform certain mental rituals or seek reassurance that the thought isn't true. They think having the thought means they are a bad person.

Interestingly the content of these thoughts has changed over time, it used to mainly be blasphemous intrusive thoughts that caused upset to people but now that we're all a bunch of godless heathens it it often thoughts about being a paedophile. Sort of the ulltimate taboo in the society at that time I suppose.
