to think mums and dads should have equal rights after splits

It seems to me that parents mums AND dads haven't got it right! Some mums seem to relish in the fact they have control over their children and stop the fathers as best they can from seeing them.... and on the flip side some dads dont seem to realise what opportunity they have in actually being a daddy!

sometimes it's just not possible, specially if one partner has moved away from where the kids live or go to school or if the children are very young. It often makes sense for them to stay with the mother and for the father to have custody some of the time.

it's never as easy as equal shares/rights unfortunately.

but where it is possible some people rather than work at it just fight i think the courts should be more behind equal parenting where it is possible... Mind you i suppose there is always going to be grey areas. i just see soooo many children loosing out because one or other of the parents or both is being an idiot!
