to return dd to nursery following conjunctivitis when I'm showing all the signs myself.

dd stayed home on Friday due to conjunctivitis. She is better but I woke up this morning with my eye glued shut.
AIBU to take her into nursery when all the staff will see that I've got it now.

Sunglasses?

I don't really understand the question - are you worried that you will give it to other people in the nursery, or that she will catch it back off you?

PinkyMe · 09/08/2010 07:12

Bit of both. It is obviously highly contagious and I'll have to touch my dd to take her in. So worried she is still an infection risk.

Well, I suffer from conjunctivitis regularly - prone to it because of contact lenses - and I've never recaught it from a family member, so I bet she'll be fine.

I'd take her, and just wash your eye out just before going in (and maybe wear sunglasses).

It is contagious but you have to be getting pretty close for anyone to catch it, if you're just dropping off the chances of anyone at nursery catching it are minimal. DD shouldn't catch it back if it's been treated with anti b cream and you practice good hygiene which am sure you do!

So no, yanbu at all. If children had to take time off when anyone they were in contact with is sick due to infection risk they'd never be at nursery!

As long as it's being traeted then conjunctivitis in not considered a disease that a child or staff should stay away from nursery for.

YANBU, my doc said its so common now they don't always advise people to keep their children off, its down to the nursery. I wouldn't have thought you dropping her off would be a problem.
