Lady broadcasters Short biography

I started with Germaine Greer, then was interrupted:

2: Jeni Murray.(womens Hour R 4) Does a good job putting the womens case on issues.
Asks all the right questions. Does not take prisoners. A serious broadcaster.

3: Kirsty young. (Desert Island Discs.)

Digs deep with her interviews. I was disappointed when she did Crimewatch. Seems to be hiding her real talent for later in her career.

4: Libby Purves. Midweek R4 and the Times.) A real "Mrs sensible" Very rational view of life. Brainy and forceful. Not too understanding of unambitious people. Who are often very nice.

5: Kirsty Wark: (TV Newsnight.)

Very impressive. Good interviewer, pushes hard but not offensive. Said to be good fun at parties. I will look forward to what kirsty does next.

More next time. They will all get promoted
(hopefully)

co6ntinued JOAN BAKEWELL Met her once years ago. She said the BBC would not let her do war reporting or football. Times change. A good true story. Miss Bakewell waspresenting Late Night Line Up in a mini skirt. The producer said to her. "Great show Joan, 3 million viewers saw your knickers" She survived that, and remains a very compassionate experienced broadcaster

little biogs continued.

  1. NICKY CAMPBELL & SHEILA FOGARTY (excuse spelling) BBC 5-Live...Breakfast.

What I notice about these two is how
intuitive they are. (They seem to read each others minds. A good double act.)

They treat news with a lighter touch than the TODAY crowd. But Nicky is an especially
fierce political interviewer, which is justified. He even tells jokes to their faces.
A very good listen, if you dont want to be depressed by heavy news.

no 8: SARAH MONTAGUE (TODAY prog BBC Radio 4)

A great foil to pit bull John Humphries.
Has a lighter touch than JH (haven,t we all?) Yet even he is politite on Mastermind.
Ms Montague knows her stuff and does not lose her femininity in putting it across. A joy to listen to.

number 9
SARA KENNEDY (Radio 2, early morning.)

I am a fan. Remember her from Game For a Laugh on TV<
Great sens of humour and of the rediculous.
I am suprised she has not been pushed up to mid morning. And she is not doing more on TV
Brightens the early risers morning. I sometimes have her in bed with me

10

STEPHEN NOLAN.....5-Live 10pm phone-in.

He is brash, well informed and effective.
Clearly enjoys the job. Does TV in Ireland,
Might frighten off nervous callers, but he
is not your average shock jock.

Can someone wake me when we get to the point?

Easywriter · 08/08/2010 16:00

Gabby I see you are in no danger of noticing that you have posted in

Am I being unreasonable

please note, the idea is you pose a question on which you seek to find out what other MN'ers feel about your thoughts/behaviour.

Despite posting here you have failed to post a question, or post anything to suggest you are anything other than a picnic lacking its full compliment of quails eggs.

What are you going on about sweetie?

Chil1234 · 08/08/2010 16:05

It's the usual GabbyLoggon verbal diarrhoea.... What you need, dear, is a blog and then we can ignore it. No-one's interested in what you think of Jenni (that's two 'n's) Murray.

GabbyLoggon · 08/08/2010 16:12

well how is anonymous CHIL with

CORRIE

Eastenders,

Shakespeare and jokes on back of matchboxes?. ?

Have you done my university question on this site? (scores have)

If you are out of you comfort zone chil,
try reading Dr Jonathan Miller.

Chil1234 · 08/08/2010 16:25

I am no more anonymous than anyone else here, am well within my comfort zone, thank you, and I don't think I need to do a 'university question'... whatever that little oddity may be.

You seem to delight in filling the MN message boards with meaningless, rambling monologues that neither invite nor inspire intelligent conversation.

Dr Jonathan Miller, unlike you, is a very good conversationalist. Then again, the joke on the back of a matchbox would also be a slight improvement on the GabbyLoggon verbal vomit you keep on subjecting everyone to.

GabbyLoggon · 08/08/2010 16:29

11 (after rude negative spoiler posters) Chris Evans, (Radio 2 and One Show TV)

Brilliant when young. Chris has calmed down,
and seems to be behaving himself. Hes good off the cuff. And inventive. I gather he had a rough time at Grammar school. It was probably the making of him. It will be interesting to see him on the ONE SHOW He has a "double" making a living at it. (thats success)

12

Terry Wogan (Radio 2)

I thought his gifted, low-key patter hid

a rather cynical nature. He sent up the star
system; while Parky worshipped it. Still, Wogans record speaks for itself. He was broadcasting before many of us were born.
One of Irelands great exports

What's happening?

Do we need to call somebody?

Chil1234 · 08/08/2010 16:45

I've tried to complain about this poster in the past but was told that meaningless diatribe is not actually against the MN rules of engagement. Pity really because he's either a troll or just really thick.

stainesmassif · 08/08/2010 16:45

YABU. Half of 7,10,11 and 12 are not lady broadcasters. Did you somehow get sidetracked?

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 08/08/2010 16:46

This is the strangest thread I've seen yet.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 08/08/2010 16:47

Whoever the OP is, I don't think they're a "well" person.

bronze · 08/08/2010 16:47

Yes you are being bloody unreasonable posting such verbal diarrhea in the wrong section (if there is a right section)

And Easywriter since my last quail were got by rats I have to picnic quails eggs free Sad

Chil1234 · 08/08/2010 16:48

You should check out the Politics board. This joker actually thinks he's an intellectual....

GabbyLoggon · 08/08/2010 16:52

JOHN MOTSON. (MOTTY)

It would be fair to say that football
is Motty,s religion. His boyish enthusiasm for the game shines through. (But even he could not
make England seem good in the World Cup.) It
is a pity because people from his generation
think money ruined the game. But JM will go on
loving it until he can no longer shout "GOAL"

I think OP that you're trying to draw attention to your endlessly facinating nickname.

What about Gabby Logan?
She'd be a female broadcaster.

Is that what you were looking for?
I'm finding you to be less enigmatic and more dumbarse if I'm honest.

I dont think rudeness and vulgarity as displayed by some critics is a substitute for debate. Get your head together and respond to a site you agree with. The posters do not run Mumsnet sites. And ganging up is never impressive. It just seems cowardly to most people. Think it over, and you may agree. The people who run these sites are right to turn down your appeal for CENSORSHIP.

Now lets proceed in a good mannered fashion.
