Argh!

I'm so angry with him rite now and generally since our little boy was born cos he just has no clue how to watch him properly but if i ever have a go at him its 'oh shes off again...' and switches off.

Is this just a general 'men' thing??

Thismorning is a prime example, hes been taking over morning duties of late due to me being 7 month pregnant so thismorning he takes DS1 downstairs and then i can hear him saying 'So r u gonna stay downstairs and be a good boy while Daddy has a shower?' now forgive me if im being unreasonable but surely im not the only one here thinking you dont leave a 2.5 yr old downstairs - on his own - while u go upstairs to have a shower??

Whats everyones opinion on this one - Am i being unreasonable to have a go at OH??

Oh no. You used an agency? Agree with others. Either you are entitled to a Canadian visa, or you aren't. Am fairly sure you need to get a job before emigrating, but good luck. Smile

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 15:55

SkiHorseWonAWean - we are paying a law firm to carry out the paperwork side of things, they charge a fee for this, a pretty big one at that but it just makes ur application go thru a lot smoother.

If we dont get it, they will refund us this fee - nearly £2000. Which is paying for all their time/form filling out/processing etc.

I have no idea if this is true, StewieGriffinsMom its just the general feedback received from canadians ourselves.
My OH brother and wife live over there already and they heard the exact same thing. Canadians are aparently stereotyped to be quite laid back in their work attitude where as us brits tend to be top speed rush around the place type of people. aparently.

ilovemydogandMrObama dont mean to be rude, but we do know the exact process as we are 70% of the way thru it, have ALL the paperwork and information needed and we do not need jobs secured to get accepted as we are going thru the skilled workers route.

tbh my OH is doing most of the work as he's the one desperate to get out of the UK (he hates it here) and im letting him get on with it so i cant use exact details like he would be able to. i just know we are pretty much in, providing we pass medicals. and we dont need jobs secured, altho my OH is planning on having one lined up before we go.

u obviously dont know the process enough to comment on this subject StewieGriffinsMom becos ur asking silly questions.

having family over there does nothing if they arent permanent residents themselves (which they arent - they are on a working visa). if they are residents it gives you extra 'points' on your application but does not mean you will get accepted purely down to this fact.

We are using siskinds as this is the quickest smoothest way to apply, they tell you everything you need to know, provide all the forms and do all the communicating. plus they are to hand if you ever need any advice on filling anything out etc.
You can, ofcourse, do it on your own, but this generally takes much longer as you are unaware of every tiny detail you need to complete (and believe me there is a lot!) and therefore end up having to resubmit parts due to missing something out etc. we wanted to avoid all this and so used a law firm to help. In my opinion i would hav rather saved the 2 grand and done it ourselves but my OH wanted to use this route and so we did.

Certainly. It wasnt based from information off ONE person. Its a known thing for canadians - they themselves usually agree with this generalisation.

Wether you like it or not, canadian companies do like British workers as we have a reputation for working very hard. which is something in our favour. You are very sensitive StewieGriffinsMom.

And to correct something, you never actually stopped to ask if our family out there were permanent residents before saying 'If you have family already there, why on earth are you wasting your money on legal fees?'.
If you had stopped to ask to get the details you felt you were missing then maybe you would have understood the answer to this question before asking it.

no, i can't agree with that. I didn't think canadians had that view of themselves. Not the ones we know and met when we were there.

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 16:37

Oh for christ sake. You people are soooo annoying. stfu please.

Just get over it. Its true. Everyone (apart from you) knows it. I cant be arsed to sit and argue about a passing comment. So just whatever.

when every employer our british family members have been to have an interview with have said the same thing over again - that they like the british as they are good workers - i think i have a valid point.

Yes because you are the smartest of the bunch arent you? Grin

They employ Eastern Europeans to do brain dead jobs such as factory work as you just answered your own question --they pay them much lower rates. not rocket science.

Have you ever been to Canada *StewieGriffinsMom? as in just the 2 weeks i spent there last year i could even see the difference with Canadians to ourselves - they are so much more laid back, it was really nice actually to be around such calm stress free people when im used to the hussle and bussle of british people running around like headless chickens with no time to say hello to each other.

british workers would not recognise this as a good thing as we are all just used to behaving in this way but when a british person goes to canada they notice the difference because we behave differently to them. can you not see what im saying?

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 16:46

oh StewieGriffinsMom i can see im not getting anywhere with you. I give up. You really are worse than i first imagined.

This is not rocket science

Stewie, that is classic! You did point out many posts ago that you were a canadian!
Yummy, I suggest instead of getting uptight listen to what you are being told. Stewie is trying to help whilst defending her fellow canadians.

weegiemum · 06/08/2010 16:56

Grin SGM!!

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 16:57

Why is it that when i say my opinion it has to be wrong but then someone else comes in with theres and this is assumed correct and therefore i should listen to 'what i am being told'?? crazy.

If you lived there for that long you should well know exactly what im talkin about so stop trying to go against everything i am saying when its true!

Doesnt canadian employment only entitle you to 10 holiday days rather than our 20+?

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 16:59

StewieGriffinsMom if you originally were born in canada - why on earth have you come over here to live?

we are gagging to get out of this place!
