... and you phone them to tell them they should at least say thank you rather than being snappy because you won't be in when they want to collect it?

Had a tent and porch delivered from B&Q this morning. I didn't open the boxes until the driver had gone, but when I did I found that there were two porches (worth about £120 each full price, I paid £60 in the sale) rather than just the one that I had ordered.

I phoned B&Q straight away to tell them. I didn't get a word of thanks, just put on hold and then treated as though I was being unreasonable when I said that I wouldn't be in on Saturday (the first available day for collection) and was there an alternative day.

Perhaps I should have just kept it and put it on ebay

That's B&Q for you!! My DH & I have had several customer service issues with them over the last few months...I now refuse to shop with them cos they're sooooo bad. I am V hormental at the moment though

Did they give you an alternative day? If not - stick it on ebay & deny all knowledge if they chase you up

domesticsluttery · 03/08/2010 10:46

Yes they are collecting it on Monday now. But they couldn't tell me what time.

Just a simple "thank you" would have been nice, not everyone is as honest!

I had two mini-micro scooters delivered by mistake and when I phoned the lovely lady from the website apologised and asked me to give the extra one to a charity of my choice. I love good customer service.

Colliecross · 03/08/2010 10:59

I phoned Lands End as they had sent me several items I had never ordered. I was not debited for them but they arrived.
Lands End said they had not sent me anything.
I listed what had arrived.
They said they had not sent it!
I gave it to a charity shop.

Bad publicity for B & Q, wow! I hate how when you get something delivered they won't give you a time for drop-off - I mean how hard can it be, get the delivery driver to give you a call and let you know approx time of arrival But you have actually done them a favour and they are being very very unreasonable and quite rude too really. Bad bad customer service. But then I went to buy some items there on the weekend and trying to find a member of staff to assist was bloody nearly impossible and when I finally did get someone they were pleasant but clueless. So not really surprised.

Leave it outside so you don't have to wait for them. Ungrateful bar stewards.

domesticsluttery · 03/08/2010 11:05

I was sent the wrong item by Yankee Doodle once, I phoned to ask if they could send me the right one if I sent that one back and they told me to keep the other one and they'd send the right one anyway.

I think they'll probably phone on Monday morning to say what time they are coming to pick it up, that is what they did with the delivery. But I think if I need to go out I will just leave it outside for them.

Don't get mad, get even. Call em back and tell em you're not going to wait in on Monday, if they want it, they'll have to be at yours at 9.15 sharp or something similar. Otherwise, they'll have to wait till the next day you can manage -- oooh at least three weeks out, I'd say (unless it's cluttering your house)
