Jeremy Clarkson and special needs

AIBU to think that there is something very wrong with Jeremy Clarkson thinking it is okay to say that a Ferrari's smiling face makes it look as though it is a 'simpleton', and say it should have been called 'Speciali Needs'?

Fuming on behalf of my ASD brother - luckily his obsessiond do not extend to Top Gear!

nah notnowbernard, but I didn't expect him too. It was fairly short- I just said I didn't think his 'joke' was very funny. I think he's more weasley that Clarkson though - Clarkson is confident enough to admit to being wrong iykwim, not sure Baddiel is.

It could be worse I could fancy James May'

I married someone very like him...

I'm very sorry goblin

RunawayWife · 02/08/2010 21:14

As the mother of a child with SN I find clarkson hilarious, sorry but I do

Tippychoocks · 02/08/2010 21:21

because of his tragic blazer and jeans combo and startling lack of self awareness runaway wife? Me too

notnowbernard · 02/08/2010 21:25

I do think Baddiel is a twat

I loathe Jeremy Clarkson with a passion. His comments certainly aren't an error of judgement. He knows exactly the audience he is playing to. Middle class right-wing press readers and boy racer nobs. He is the least funny person in the world and an utter prick.

MovingBeds · 03/08/2010 08:47

I quite like James May

It's OK 2kids, he suits me.
If I'd been mad enough to marry JC, he'd have been under the patio by the end of the honeymoon.

shockers · 03/08/2010 11:26

I think TG is heavily based on Men Behaving Badly and the presenters sre sending themselves up in the same way that the characters in that (or even Alf Garnett )did... I'm not sure JC knows that but the other two clearly do.

He's a daft oaf with dubious views on most things. I used to get really het up about the fact that many children were listing to his anti-environmental rantings until DS2 (age 10) explained to me that he was just being silly "for attention" .

sc13 · 03/08/2010 11:27

This is a TV programme about CARS. Surely, enough said?
Of course YANBU at all - I can't believe we still need to make this point over and over again.

milliemoosmum · 03/08/2010 21:34

shockers definitely a case of wisdom coming from the mouths of babes there I think!

lemonysweet · 04/08/2010 00:17

yeah, i thought he was making a comment about the front of the car looking like it was smiling too. i thought it was vague reference to the fact you see a lot of children who arent that smart but are just happy doing what they do, but then the specialis comment.
a comparison between actually having special needs and just not being that bright?
we all know he says this stuff to deliberately piss people [who complain] off, why rise to the bait?
just forget about it.

he goes about it the wrong way, but he keeps getting around the BBC censorship, [the current guidelines that would have stopped most classic comedy programmaes from being made] so why is that? why does Jonathon Ross get a spanking and Clarkson gets nothing? whats so special about Clarkson?

2kids2dogsandahorse · 04/08/2010 09:43

cos JC is a man and JW can't even say his name lol

(confesses to also having hot thoughts about Paxo and Karl the Doc from Neighbours)
