To really want to post something snappy and clever to my FB status?

I have this person who is a husband of a friend who is rather outspoken and has very strong views on things. I see him regularly and, in the groups we meet in, there is often at least one breastfeeding mum there as lots are still at the stage of having babies.

I was kind of aware he had a 'thing' about bfing in public, but yesterday he posted a youtube clip of the little britain sketch saying "creepy creepy creepy keep it to yourselves", which I just ignored. But now he's posted the following:

"Whats on my mind.
Breast feeding
should be a personal thing
put your tits away luv the rest of the world dosn't want to know"

I don't want to let this go. It's no skin off my nose if I never see him again - will be quite easy to achieve, so I'm not worried about damaging relations.

What would you do?

Change your pic to one of you bfing?

Post a status update saying that people who are offended by bfing are pathetic twits who need to examine why they are upset by something so inoffensive and normal?

'Share' the group you already belong to entitled 'If breastfeeding offends you put a blanket over YOUR head'?

Or something more clever?

Just delete him as a friend and forget about it.

You don't need to make him look stupid, he's doing that all by himself.

SilveryMoon · 01/08/2010 14:57

Can' you just tell him that his views are offending you? And whilst it's ok to have his own personal view on bf, tell him that that is infact what breasts are actually for and that you are pretty sure there are more pro-bf's than anti, so maybe he should just be adult about it all and stop acting like a 15 year old.
Unless he is actually 15.

Agree with withorwithouyou.
But, if you must, first leave a comment asking why he is so obseessed with breastfeeding, finishing with: You do make me laugh, Dave, the bees you get in your bonnet! LOLOLOL

MisterMahoohoo · 01/08/2010 15:01

Not big or especially clever but I'd be tempted to put something like -
"Ahh wizawazawu, is da wittle big boy jeawous of the baby getting some booboo's den? Did mummum's not give big baby enough booboo's when he was a wittle baby, ahhh somebody pick his rattle up and give it back to the poor wuv?....GROW UP!"

Reply with 'Having your dick out is a personal thing....but I guess it's hard to cover it up if it's on your head'

Then delete

Oh July! That is such a funny idea!

I just posted a link on my profile to the 'if bfing offends you' page and written 'For Si x' at the top

I once had a ding dong with a stranger about my breast feeding at a debenhams style restaurant.

He argued a similar point to your friend.

I pointed out that he / his view was sexually perverted. I pointed that the evolutionary purpose of breasts were for feeding babies, and that his view of them, as a sexual object was secondary and therefore actually a perversion on its primary non sexual purpose. Indeed, many cultures do not see breasts as sexual at all.

Therefore, if he wanted to hold a perverted view of breasts, that's his business, but he was not to inflict his perversions onto me (who cannot see breast feeding breasts as sexual at all!).

I won the argument and I don't think he knew what to say to that. But I don't know or even if you could put something like that on a facebook page, to someone you know without being extremely passive aggressive (although that is exactly what he is doing).

In your situation, I think I would ignore the comment, but perhaps find a facebook group that you could like. There are 12 different pro breastfeeding groups out there. Join one - that will make your feelings clear.
