to think M&S suit trousers should last more than 2 days???

DP bought 2 M&S suits last weekend and has worn them this week but on both pairs of trousers the hems have come un-stitched.

He's just come back from trying to take them back and they've told him they won't exchange or refund!

So he's worn each pair of trousers for 2 days and now has to get them repaired.

Am I the only one that thinks this is disgusting?

He's previously had cheaper suits and more expensive suits and never had this problem!

am very surprised they wouldn't exchange or refund

I would not be accepting that, that is not reasonable wear and tear, you are definitely entitled to a refund.

alarkaspree · 31/07/2010 14:20

I'm amazed they wouldn't exchange them. I'm sure if he writes to customer services they would give him a refund.

Having said that machine-sewn hems are always crappy ime. It might be easier to just learn to sew them up himself. It would take 5 minutes.

gorionine · 31/07/2010 14:21

Yes not very good customer after care. Did you still have the receit to prove when you had bought them?

AuntieMaggie · 31/07/2010 14:38

Yep - will be following it up with a complaint.

I know machine hems are rubbish but 2 days???

He was going to repair them but I wasn't happy about it and told him to take them back. If it had been a couple of months then I'd have been happy with repairing them but two days wearing them with slip on shoes?

Just spokn to DP who apparently spoke to head of customer services in store AFTER someone in mnswear told him they would exchange the trousers with no problem!!!

Their policy is not to exchange or refund on this type of problem but to repair which can take weeks! Not being funny but what is he supposed to wear until then???

They apparently only lightly tack the hems because people lik their hems differently... um don't you buy a pair of trousers expecting to be able to wear them without needing to sew them first?

At this rate it looks like Asda would've been better with their 100 day guarante!
