I consider myself pretty open minded but WTF.. I was researching water births and stumbled on to this. I am from Florida and I have issues with the whole swimming with dolphins thing in the first place as I don't believe in keeping them in captivity... But all that aside... Is this not just really weird?

OK, I admit I snorted with laughter at this! Then thought about it properly - is it me or has the world gone mad?? What is it with people and dolphins for gawds sake? Why do people assume dolphins want to swim with THEM? Water birth - fine. Water birth with dolphins - not fine. Dolphins, like any other animal, can be agressive and unpredictable. Things have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous apparently.

It is the way it is right there staring... I just. Why?

I think the dolphins are the least of that kid's worries, TBH.

Mowiol · 30/07/2010 11:20

I see your point tethersend - it was the flower at the end that got me!!

chloebe · 30/07/2010 11:20

sorry had to laugh a little bit, to be honest its not my bag!

ZZZenAgain · 30/07/2010 11:22

it looked very peaceful. The flower bit was twee. The dolophin came quite close up though I thought.

Hassled · 30/07/2010 11:23

tethersend makes a good point .

I'd have been batting the dolphins off in a "FFS don't come NEAR me" sort of way.

ZZZenAgain · 30/07/2010 11:23

where did she give birth though somewhere like Seaworld? Can you book a dolphin pool for an underwater birth?

Mowiol · 30/07/2010 11:26

Hope your not thinking of booking one ZZZenAgain

draftywindows · 30/07/2010 11:26

Is the dolphin close up because it is in an enclosure rather than out of free choice?

ZZZenAgain · 30/07/2010 11:27

lol
I am not planning on repeating the birth experience any time soon, or at all tbh

sanielle · 30/07/2010 11:28

I suspect so Draftywondows.... Otherwise would you let a wild animal near a baby covered in blood and whatever else that has just come out of you? You'd hope there were no sharks about!

Although maybe these people would?

ZZZenAgain · 30/07/2010 11:30

couldn't just be any old place in the great outdoors could it? Would that be hygienic for a birth?

well it is a wee bit odd. Maybe they work with dolphins and decided to have the baby at work - something like that?

Logistics of it are mystifying me a bit

draftywindows · 30/07/2010 11:53

I don't think it is very ethical to enclose an animal so you can make a you tube birth video.

QueenofDreams · 30/07/2010 12:00

Oh yes I saw this video a couple of weeks ago. Must admit I was a bit WTF?

Seriously: waterbirth, fine. But why add dolphins? It's practically got its snout up her fanjo!
