to not want my SIL to "take" me shopping

what does this mean? it sounds like she's going to buy me lots of things, but I'm sure she isn't.

if she isn't going to buy me stuff then it just sounds patronising, like I couldn't manage to find the shops on my own. it annoys me either way.

What is the context of this?

You're right, unless it is your birthday and she is taking you shopping to buy you a present, it is weird. Are you perhaps very unstylish? Does she fancy herself as Trinny/Susannah?

lol I did think perhaps she thinks I need a restyle but hope not!

no reason seemingly, not birthday or anything. just a phone call when she said "it's been ages, let's meet up soon. I'll take you shopping."

YANBU my friend "took" me dress shopping when I needed an outfit for ds2 christening. She is v girly and refused to believe my assertions that my post baby body does not suit any dresses AT ALL. A day of dress shopping and trying on all sorts of unflattering stuff proved me right and i managed to find a lovely pair of trousers and top all by myself which looked lovely.

Am quite sure she would love to restyle me I am not feminine enough or put together as neatly as she would like I am sure!

Just say how about lunch instead much more fun
