To want an acknowledgment?

The other day I applied for a job with a large, well known organisation. I emailed off my CV and application form, but I still haven't got an acknowledgment.

I'm not bothered about an email saying I've been unsuccessful, but I would like an automated email saying 'we have received your CV and will be considering it.' It's really annoying me, I spent ages on the application, and they could at least send me something to say that someone will actually be reading it.

Every other job I've applied for has sent me an acknowledgment. I'm considering sending them an email about it, because I think it's bad practice.

Has it been at least 14 days since you sent it & has the closing date gone?

Closing date was yesterday, I sent it the day before (didn't see it until then).

A lot of places say they won't respond if you're unsuccessful, which is fine, but they do at least send something to say that they've received your application, so you know it's got there.

I would think they just want to get all the apps in, go through them and will then send acknowledgements and interview requests.
2 days is probably a bit soon to expect a reply to be fair!
Good luck anyway.
