here For anyone who is fed up of the lack of affordable boys clothes. Sorry to post it here but there were a few people in AIBU yesterday who wanted a campaign against this.

This is true the other way round as well you know. It just depends which store you are in and when. There are also lots of shops that stock even amounts.

slushy · 29/07/2010 11:01

Laweaselmys yes but there is a "let girls be girls campaign" which is winning I might add and most of the shops that do stock equal clothing are very expensive.

I don't know - I have found our Asda usually has more boys than girls. Tesco about the same. Primark about the same.

I would say the worst offenders are M&S and Next both of which I would say are largely expensive apart from multipack deals.

slushy · 29/07/2010 11:08

Really my Asda has 10 girls aisles and two boys , my Tesco has 8 girls aisle and 3 boys aisle. I can't even find a boys section in Primark. I went in matalan the other day huge sale got 2 bags for dd 2 t-shirts for ds.

Try www.blueforboys.co.uk - they do ONLY boys clothes and seem to have some great stuff. Have just bought some lovely PJs and a pair of jeans from them - great service.

ForMashGetSmash · 03/11/2010 15:41

What would you really like to see? I have 2 DD's....what kind of stuff would make you go "Aaaah! At last!"

I am starting a childrens line...and I have to admit tat mymind is full of lovely girls things....a creeping voice has been going "AHEM!" in my ear though...but when I think about designs I end up scuppered...

mamadiva · 03/11/2010 15:51

YANBU most if not all the shops here have a very small boys section!

Personally I just want some funky coloured things for DS rather than neutral coloured junk that tells everyone how much of a monster he is/how cute his dad is/he's a cheeky monkey...

Nice plain brightly coloured tops and trousers that are not made of denim would be my only request

TheCrackFox · 03/11/2010 15:53

YANBU

I was in Peacock's today and they had 8 different types of dressing gowns for girls and one navy blue one for the boys.

stillfrazzled · 03/11/2010 15:55

FMGS, I have one 3yo and am expecting a second.

I would like:
Bright colours
Autumn colours
Something other than stripes
No ASBO-in-training/I'm a little sh*te slogans
No farking monsters
No pale blue
No puppies
More than one pair of shoes/hats/coats and so on
Trousers other than jeans or joggers

Mini mode used to be fabulous, but Boots ditched them and now thier own brand is dull, limited and gives one-quarter of the space to boys' stuff. It's depressing.

thatsnotmyGUNPOWDER · 03/11/2010 15:55

yes me too, i agree, it is rubbish the choice out there!

GunpowderTreasonAndSNOTSleeves · 03/11/2010 15:57

agree about puppes, why is it always dogs fgs

I have two boys and a fucking hate dogs

I like bold colours, cheerful happy stuff, not miniature sk8r drug dealer shit in dingy greay and khaki and navy bloody blue

Witchcat · 03/11/2010 16:03

I would like afforable dress shirts for christmas parties. there is loads of dresses for girls but only a few opptions for boys and most include jeans.

I would like to see:
Waist coats
Different colour and pattened shirts
Checked, plain and bright autumn colours pullups
Polo necks
Jumpers with funky designs on

ForMashGetSmash · 03/11/2010 16:05

Thank you for the info on what you want for boys...Grin at "I'm a little shite" slogan!

Just like the girls ones I see which say things like "I'm a gold digger" or a bloody pprincess.

I see that girls do have far more choice...are there any pics you DO like though? Not dogs apparently! Do you like vintage inspired prints? Any prints?

And have you all looked at any Scandinavian boys clothing? often very nice but EXPENSIVE!

earwicga · 03/11/2010 16:08

Yep - I'm in. Just wait until your son gets older stillfrazzled - it gets worse.

earwicga · 03/11/2010 16:10

And if anyone knows of a reasonably priced retailer selling joggers (age 8+) which are thicker than a pair of tights, please let me know!

LunarSea · 03/11/2010 16:11

I like the kind of stuff they have here - bright colours rather than all sludge and khaki! Can't find anywhere in the UK with this sort of range though.

Tee2072 · 03/11/2010 16:12

Oh I am so in. I was in H&M, Pumpkin Patch and one other store I can't think of today. Miles of girl clothes. One horrible rack for boys.

I'd like:

Colours other than blue, green, beige, brown
Trousers other than jeans
Agree with no horrid slogans
More than one hat/mittens set to choose from
Socks other than white or blue.

Really, anything would be better than what we currently have.

earwicga · 03/11/2010 16:14

Basically, a range of unisex clothes in all colours is needed. Available in all supermarkets.

ForMashGetSmash · 03/11/2010 16:16

SO it would seem there is no real choice of colours? And also a much smaler selection in most shops than girls have to choose from?

Also not enough trousers as opposed to jeans. But what trousers? Cargo type things? Cords? Just....trousers?

Firawla · 03/11/2010 16:35

I dont really think it is that hard to find boys clothes
as for the bright colours etc there is loads in next

working9while5 · 03/11/2010 16:39

Gymboree in the US is good but won't ship without you sending your full credit card details via email Hmm

Firawla, it's not that hard to find boys clothes but it is hard to find boy clothes that aren't vile.

CardyMow · 03/11/2010 17:28

I totally agree. I have two older boys that are quite tall (8.7yo DS1 is in age 11-12 clothes, 7yo DS2 is in age 8-9) and Tescos for some reason do their girls clothes in up to age 13-14...their boys clothes stop at age 9-10 in some things, and at most 11-12 in others. Sainsburys is no better, and as for trying to get older boys clothes in my local asda - they have half an aisle!

I am 29 weeks pregnant with a boy, and my local tescos has 3 full aisles of baby/toddler girls clothes, and less than one for baby/toddler boys!

Agree with brighter colours, less slogans, plain t-shirts, and better trousers. Otions of proper shirts for bigger boys would be nice, I'm finding it very hard this year to buy a pair of smart trousers and shirt that are affordable for the DS's to wear at christmas.

And ranges of boys clothing going above age 9-10/11-12, as my tall 8yo is too big for them, but faaaaar to small for adult clothes - the size gap for boys is even worse than for girls!
