I will be 40 in september would have loved to do something with all of the family.
However my parents and both my sisters are going abroad without me I could not afford it.
Would you be feeling a bit peeved at this or aibu.

It is one of those questions which is impossible to answer as everybody's family is different.

This would be a complete non-issue in our family, as we don't make a massive deal out of birthdays, just go for a meal or something. In the past, parents have been away for my birthday and we just went out before or after their trip.

Not saying YABU, just that it depends on the family, clearly it bothers you.

if they are going together then yanbu, would feel left out on my birthday. But if not they hey ho. Mine went to Australia on mine - I didnt mind. They would have had a missy fit if i did the same on their 'special day' though!!

Always find birthdays odd occasions - feel that my mum should be getting the prezzies, after all she did all the hard work not me
