to think that there is an extraordinarily high instance of people whinging about nothing at the moment?

Every thread I open seems to be whinging about something so totally insignficant that it boggles the mind. I can't give examples as I don't want to quote individuals. I'm not one of the 'be grateful that's all you've got to worry about, brigade' but really, I don't know how some people go about their everyday lives when inconsequential things piss them off so much. I understand people coming on here for a whinge but I've seen threads from people who are really angry about things, really having a go at family members etc when the 'crime' is so tiny as to be non existent.

AIBU to think that people really need to get a grip and stop whining? Or have I just got too old and grumpy for MN? (could well be the case)

(Am prepared for a flaming, would be a darn sight more interesting!)

I have a pot of the mini M&S teacakes.

It's the heat.

swanandduck · 27/07/2010 15:47

I have a chocolate orange, and you're not getting any.

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 15:48

Yup, cyteen got there before me - loons are out in force.

Hang on -

Rockbird, you miserable old bag, haven't you better things to do than start a trivial thread about how many trivial threads there are at the moment? Haven't you got any Real problems to worry about??

sapphireblue · 27/07/2010 15:54

chocolate isn't supposed to be orange swan......that's vvvU

What's gutting is that there were some brill threads on here a few weeks ago - The Houseboy, the Swingers Club, etc with some really great debate.

Hard to debate on Citylink parcel delivery issues or T-shirt prints.

Rockbird as you were the gobbiest one that said what everyone was thinking I suggest you think of a brilliantly superior AIBU and get it posted now.

swanandduck · 27/07/2010 15:57

Actually Sapph my chocolate can be any colour I like. You sound just like my MIL who is such a pain and always correcting me and doesn't like my curtains and gives the dc biscuits when I'm not looking.........

deaddei · 27/07/2010 15:57

I am only on here to delay cleaning my kitchen.
It's taken me 2 days so far. Is this a record?

Fartytowels · 27/07/2010 15:59

deaddei only if that is 48 hours solid - i.e. you haven't been to bed?

I really like the threads where people have a little moan about small things that pee them off (such as being irritated when asked if you want milk with your Americano) but some dullard is guaranteed to pipe up with "if that's all you've got to worry about then be thankful".

But I hate pointless, angry, ranting too. Mumsnet becomes more like an episode of Jeremy Kyle every day [snob emoticon].

deaddei · 27/07/2010 16:01

ok, it's just under 2 hours.

sapphireblue · 27/07/2010 16:02

no offense meant swan........I am a chocolate purist and like my chocolate to be chocolate flavoured

muddleduck · 27/07/2010 16:07

moaning about trivial nonsense is absolutely fine...

as long as you know it is trivial nonsense.

now have I told you all about the really annoying stain on my carpet?

ponceydog · 27/07/2010 16:08

ach, people like a moan. S'alright

AgentZigzag · 27/07/2010 16:10

Not a stain on your carpet!

How the fuck are you managing to keep it together muddle

notagrannyyet · 27/07/2010 16:12

I never realised until today that DH should have bought me diamonds in return for his 6 DC. I will be stressing about it until he returns!

muddleduck · 27/07/2010 16:13

I have lots of RL support.

DH is babysitting the children and helping out with the housework so I think we'll be ok.

but it is sooooo hard

Rockbird · 27/07/2010 16:26

The Houseboy thread was great. I think I called you all a load of whinging tosspots on there as well

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/07/2010 16:36

Damn - been away - what was the Houseboy thread? Searched for it but presume it has been delighted. Was it rude? Sounds fab. Can I get one?

Rockbird · 27/07/2010 16:39

Poster out in the middle east wanted to know if she would be able to get a visa for her houseboy (male housekeeper-y type thing) to come with the family when they come home to the UK for a holiday.

Cue lots of beating of breasts and wailing about the term houseboy. Was a cracking read but MNHQ removed it because I think it turned out to be a facebook planned wind up. Or something like that...

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 27/07/2010 16:44

To the OP - I've been here 4 years and it's always been like that, as far as I can remember...

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/07/2010 16:47

Sounds great fun. Now, what pointless things can I find to moan about - Oh yes, got stitched in to having DDs friend for the day - since 8 o'clock this morning. My DD has had to go to an appointment and the other DC is still here so I cannot go out/break wind/dance round the house naked until her mother turns up. Aaaargh!

swanandduck · 27/07/2010 16:48

I do sometimes feel very brave and tolerant on here, when I see some of the stuff that people get apoplectic about (particulary some of the MIL threads).
