We listen... anyone else?

Realise that cuts to kid's radio are probably not at all high up the list of most families worries at the moment but it's still sad, no?

Is this radio 7?

They aren't cutting it all are they?

What will I ( ahem I mean the kids) listen to when in the kitchen baking?

Pancakeflipper · 26/07/2010 22:20

Bley just spotted your name Spongecakelover... Do you listen when you are baking?

We tend to listen to Fun Kids via the internet when my DD picks a station to listen to. It is a real shame to lose BBC output in this area though.

A few years ago one of my daughters ended up appearing on Big Toe Radio Show on BBC7. Nice trip to BH, idle afternoon sat around while the dads ogled Kirsten O'Brien, discovered our neighbour had never been to a Starbucks. Several of the phone-in features had not a single person call, which tends to imply that - given a late night local radio station can always get a nutter on the air at 3am to talk about Elvis - the listenership was low to the point of invisibility. See also Go For It - the wonderful Deadringers spoof of Judi Dench reading Sylvia Plath to children ("so, if you think your father's a fascist, why not write in...") notwithstanding, it would have been cheaper for Barney Harewood to cruise round the country doing an hour in each listener's front room, just for them.

YABU if it doesn't attact high enough audiences to justify the cost of its production then it probably needs to go, particulary considering the cuts that the beeb are to make

Firawla · 27/07/2010 08:07

yabu i dont know anyone who listens to it, i didnt even really know there was a bbc kids radio, they have to make cuts so it seems fair, if noone is listening it will be a waste of money
as long as they dont cut cbeebies i am fine with it
