My ILs have just been for a visit

And they arrived when they said they would with gifts. They have been good company, played with DS loads, complimented DH's cooking, didn't stay up too late, get too drunk and didn't mind a quiet day today and have just left.

AIBU to actually prefer them to my parents?

How lovely to read a post not complaining about inlaws. Thank you.

SixtyFootDoll · 25/07/2010 17:50

CarGirl · 25/07/2010 17:51

THey sound lovely, would they like to adopt us as another family?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 25/07/2010 17:56

Not at all.

would they like to come round to my place?

lolapoppins · 25/07/2010 18:52

My MIL came to visit today. She told me there was a picture of my son's nursery graduation in the local paper. I look in the paper, it is from a different nursery to that which he attends, she well knows which one he goes to as it is next door to the school where she is a dinnerlady, and the name of the nursery is printed in large bold typeface above the picture. She insists it is his nursery and points out "my" son to me. The child is clearly not him. It is no more similar to him than I am to Cameron Diaz. MIL is 53 and has perfect vision.

OP, next time she threatens to visit, can you send your IL's to me instead? Like a cultural exchange visit?!

arcticwind · 25/07/2010 20:14

Good for them (and you). My mother will not set foot in my house as it is 'too untidy' for her. My MIL on the other hand loves coming here and will inevitably help around the house (tactfully )
in laws are great!

Have to agree arcticwind especially as my parents haven't been to visit for years (we do see them at theirs). And my MIL offered to come and help when dc2 is born, with no pressure but genuinely offering if we asked.

My mother has booked a holiday for two days after I'm due, not deliberately apparently but she didn't remember until after she booked it

So I think I'll just keep them to myself if you all don't mind
