I'm knackered had a very busy week and feel a bit ropey.

I'm putting my 2 yo to bed in about 10 minutes and will probably go to bed myself.

DP will be in from work around 11.00pm AIBU to go to bed and leave the 13 year old downstairs or shall I send him to bed too ??

He'll be fine. Sleep well.

I've left my 10 yo like this before - I was bloody exhausted. Bless him, 10 minutes after I'd gone up he made me a hot choc, brought it up, then sat next to me in my bed reading. He went to his own bed at 1030 when his Dad came home!

I so would have been playing on the XBox if I had been him! (Lovely) wierdo.

EnglandAllenPoe · 24/07/2010 20:33

sounds fine.

when i was about 9 (sister 12) my mum spent 3 months in bed (pneumonia)....we didn't do anything untoward and she'd have been there if we had...

MintCracknel · 24/07/2010 20:34

Well, as someone who goes to bed before her 10 year old sometimes,I would say its fine.Providing he is ok to leave,my son does have Aspergers but I know he is fine and he loves it!

Lynli · 24/07/2010 20:41

Even I would be happy to do this and I am rediculously over protective.

My 14 yr old DSS was also fine - we were slightly alarmed when we switched on the TV the next morning to put CBeebies on and found the SKY box still on the Adult XXX channel

Poor lad was so embarrassed for weeks after

thefinerthingsinlife · 24/07/2010 21:45

dilemma my 4 year old dd gets up puts a dvd on and makes her own breakfast in the mornings.

I have tried to stop her but to no avail, she does no harm and she knows what she's allowed.

ChippingIn · 25/07/2010 00:59

dilemma - why not? You're in the house if she needs you, she's clearly able to get her breakfast (well trained!!) and ou got some rest - no different to nodding off on the settee! I would just train her out of waking you to get up!!

finerthings - better still though, you are now eligible for an award in the 'non-helicopter' parenting section!

I was babysitting (a good way from home) at 13!

LittleSilver · 25/07/2010 07:26

Good Lord yes that's fine.

Hope you enjoyed your early night.

thefinerthingsinlife · 25/07/2010 08:42

oooo chippingin do I get a medal? A shiny one?

ChoChoSan · 25/07/2010 10:14

Wow...13? What are you worried might happen? ...I don't have kids myself, but remembering back to when I was 13, I have no idea what could occur that would be a problem (expect perhps me sneaking out with my mates!)

valleyqueen · 25/07/2010 10:55

I go to bed leaving my 11 year old downstairs almost every Friday. My sky box has a pin that has to be entered for certain channels after 9pm but she usually has Disney on or one of those horrible programmes like Kendra on.
