to be annoyed that someone called my jam donut fattening

Yes, I know they are in fact fattening but I was really really looking forward to it Nipped out of the office to buy myself lunch. Absolutely starving as haven't had anything to eat since breakfast so as soon as I saw the jam donuts in the supermarket I went and bought a bag. Being the greedy guts that I am I tucked in as I was heading down the escalator to the car park. As I was stuffing my face delicately eating the donut I hear this voice behind me. I ignored it first time round thinking it was someone talking to someone else. I hear the voice again and they were saying "fattening". I turned round and this guy said "you're ignoring me aren't you?" I mumbled "yes" and turned my attention back to my donut. Now, firstly I think it is a bit rude to comment on what a complete stranger especially as I don't look (I don't think) as if I am the sort of person that is going to kill myself through overeating and, secondly, he really wasn't one to comment on what was fattening seeing as he looked as if he needed to cut out the pints and pork pies! I was planning on sharing the rest of the donuts with my work colleagues but he took the pleasure out of the first one so I am going to have to scoff another two one to get over my annoyance. Can't a girl enjoy a donut in peace!

I think he was angling for a doughnut donation myself.. hoping you'd discard the bag in a fit of anxiety.

You've got a doughnut nemesis.

niftyfifty · 23/07/2010 14:26

YANBU! I just had a lovely lunch of hummous with red pepper slices ....... followed by a jam doughnut

sanielle · 23/07/2010 14:28

YABU shop dougnuts are poo.

Krispy Kreme however, hot..... tasy and bviously no calories.

Ezma · 23/07/2010 14:28

He chose the wrong woman to "displace", he way I was feeling when I bought the donuts I was nearly ripping the bag open before I'd even paid for them.

Maybe he was Homer Simpson in disguise!

It is annoying - I sometimes get that at work when eating chocolate or cake.

Someone will "jokingly" say ooh, that's naughty or something, or that's fattening.

It is ALWAYS someone bigger than me (and I am a small size 12!). I respond with "yes, it's great isnt it?!" and give them a big smile and that usually takes the wind out of their sails!

they're looking to make you feel bad when you shouldnt, and they are the ones with a problem.

sanielle · 23/07/2010 14:29

Actually I think KK doughnuts counts as one of your one-a-day if you get the jam filled ones. So technically a health food

I had the choice but I have a thing for shop jam donuts. Maybe it's the grease factor. Was a bit disappointed in that - not greasy enough imo!

But I like your argument about KK though Sanielle, may have to use that logic next week!

Real, I hate to say it but I have absolutely no guilt complex about it whatsoever . I've only had two though so it sounds I can allow myself at least one more before sharing the remainder out - might as well make everyone else feel bad as well If I get to four though then I will feel guilty (perhaps)

Lady, I really wish I'd had the guts to say to the guy with the gut that it was a shame he didn't seem to know that other food were also as fattening but I'm far too polite!

I wish I ham a jam donut.

YABU to talk about this when there may be people who don't have donuts (jam or otherwise). A bit selfish IMO.

Ezma · 23/07/2010 14:38

Sorry Morloth, I should stop being so smug about it shouldn't I .

I have now (begrudgingly) done the right thing and shared the rest out. Does that make me less selfish?

Morloth · 23/07/2010 14:40

No, because I still don't have one.

niftyfifty · 23/07/2010 14:41

The doughnut I had today was left from yesterday - just pop in the microwave for 10 seconds or so and they go lovely & soft again

KurriKurri · 23/07/2010 14:42

Hurl one in my direction Ezma,

Ezma · 23/07/2010 14:43

Good tip nifty.

Morloth, if it makes you feel any better I am now feeling slightly sick after the consumption of the donuts in rapid succession .

Booboobedoo · 23/07/2010 14:44

Only if it comes with a cup of tea.

You see I suffer from LPS (Lazy Person's Syndrome) and while I want a cup of tea and a piece of cake/donut, the kitchen is at least 15 feet away.

There are little Fru carrot cakes in the fridge. I wonder if I can bribe DS1 into getting one for me?

Ezma · 23/07/2010 14:53

I am only too happy to provide the tea Morloth as I love an excuse valid reason to leave the shackles of my desk for a few minutes.

Presumanly DS1 can be bribed with carrot cake but if I were you (unless you plan on making take multiple trips to the kitchen which may constitute child labour) then get him to grab a few pieces for you as one piece only equates to one mouthful (well for me they do!)

ladydeedy · 23/07/2010 14:54

mmm I love the ones that have apple in them...

nagoo · 23/07/2010 15:19

Custard for me.... oh now I need to get to Tesco.

Bobbalina · 23/07/2010 15:23

I get equally annoyed when people at work say "aren't you healthy" if I eat a salad for lunch

pingviner · 23/07/2010 15:26

grrr at people who do this passive agressive dieting pointers thing

0r say its naughty, or some other such nauseating little girly 'ooh look at meeee! so transgressive at eating a whole calorie' act

I tend to look blank - its a biscuit. You are an adult. Get over yourself, eat the bloody thing if you want it, put it down if you dont: and stop vapouring on....

No one at work has dared to tell me the chocolates are fattening....

Off to buy doughnuts now. My favourites are the Tim Hortons maple and pecan ones, havent had any for years. Any canadians on the board fancy posting one?
