... to blow smoke in her child's face. And very stupid to get caught by the paps. sorry Daily Mail link

I normally quite like her - maybe it's an unfortunate camera angle but probably not.

ok, you can very clearly see it is NOT in the child's face. the child is sitting further from the camera than she is and she is blowing the smoke behind the child.

MrsC2010 · 22/07/2010 15:05

I think the toddler is actually a way in front of her looking at the angle of the pic...not ideal though so not making escuses.

Doigthebountyeater · 22/07/2010 15:06

No one should smoke if they have kids if we are being honest. Mind you, none of us is perfect either...

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/07/2010 15:06

Oh for god sake if you look at the photo it is obvious she is a good 4 feet away from the child.

What a non story. Typcial DM.

singsinthebath · 22/07/2010 15:06

Maybe they've photoshopped it to make it look worse than it was?

OP posts:
booyhoo · 22/07/2010 15:07

no-one should smoke if they have kids??? really?

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 22/07/2010 15:08

It's just clever camera angles IMO and I'm very anti-smoking around children but you know how newspapers like to twist things.

ljgibbs · 22/07/2010 15:10

I'd say it's an unfortunate camera angle and she's blowing the smoke behind him not in his face.

singsinthebath · 22/07/2010 15:11

OK consensus is IABU she's been set up.

Looks to me like the kid is in front of her.

Look, let's be honest. In an ideal world nobody would smoke. It's not the best thing to do, nobody can say that of the choices 1 - do not smoke and 2 - smoke, no 2 is the healthier choice! It is bad for you, it is bad for those around you. It would be better if fags had never been invented! Can anyone argue with that?

But they have been invented, they are legal and many people choose to use them. All we can hope is that all reasonable precautions will be taken to minimise risk to other people.

And blowing your smoke upwards at the back of your child in the open air is not the same as sitting with them in the airing cupboard and blowing smoke up their nose.

The best of all possible options would be to live in a smoke free world, but since that is never going to happen, you just need to take the best care you can.

traceybath · 22/07/2010 15:16

Come on - she is sat pretty close to him.

If I'd seen that in the park with any mother I would have been a bit but then I've never smoked and really don't like to see people smoking around small children.

I know I am a dreadful person for judging

2shoes · 22/07/2010 15:16

yabu

Francagoestohollywood · 22/07/2010 15:17

It's clearly photoshopped, imo

Morloth · 22/07/2010 15:42

It's forced perspective, same trick they used in the lord of the rings to make the hobbits small in many of the scenes.

"Lucky" shot.

Morloth · 22/07/2010 15:45

example

DetectivePotato · 22/07/2010 15:45

Looks photoshopped. A very bad picture.

smallorange · 22/07/2010 15:47

it's not clearly photoshopped but unfirtunte angle.

Mind you it ain't exactly a classy look either, eh

rosieposey · 22/07/2010 15:49

I wondered if someone would start a thread on this, someone sent me a link earlier and the first thing i thought was how out of proportion he is to her - he is clearly not beside her - yabu

MoonUnitAlpha · 22/07/2010 15:50

Sure, no one should smoke and she's not a perfect mother.

Typical misogynistic nonsense from the Daily Mail though.

Willabywallaby · 23/07/2010 09:18

YABU, I'm definitely anti-smoking but she does have a choice even if she is a Mother. She stopped when she was pregnant which is better than nothing IMO.

oxocube · 23/07/2010 09:26

"No one should smoke if they have kids". How very judgemental. Incidentally, I am a non-smoker. Maybe we shouldn't have more than one glass of wine with dinner either or be overweight....

bruxeur · 23/07/2010 09:28

No one should smoke at all. It's common.

milliemoosmum · 23/07/2010 16:08

YANBU. Haven't seen the photo but I went off Billie Piper when she said that taking drugs for post natal depression is for weak people

Doigthebountyeater · 24/07/2010 09:26

Look - no one should smoke if they have kids because it WILL have an impact on the kids' health (in a way that being overweight/drinking alcohol etc) will not. Sorry but it's true. Would you like someone who'd just had a fag to be cuddling your baby? 'Cos I wouldn't.
