Not to go to the "picky bits" thing at school tonight?

DS1 leaves primary school tomorow ((sobs quietly)) and tonight is the leavers disco which he will be going to.
The school have also organised a "Parents of leavers" get together tonight with "picky bits" and drinks on offer.
I feel a bit bad about not wanting to go but I can't stand 90% of the two faced bitches parents at that school! I'd really rather not be around them (and have successfully managed this for the past 2 years or so) but its his LEAVERS night - I have to make an effort, right?

Then again, he keeps saying "you don't have to come mum, I can go on my own ... " so maybe he doesn't want me there anyway??

I think you should go, you dont have to stay for long and dont have to talk to the worst parents but bet it would mean a lot to him really. My DD left primary school last week I was gutted.

I would go.
I have similar feelings to you, and went to a social gathering recently of year 6 parents. One actually sneered at my choice of secondary school for ds - she is pulling her son out of the outstanding primary to put him in a private school "as god forbid, we don't want him ending up at the boys secondary".
I managed to find some nice normal parents to chat too- and quite enjoyed myself.
So go- drink and stuff your face

Personally I'd steer well clear. Your son gets to go to the disco so he'll be happy. I can't stand all this enforced socialising of parents.

go

for a little bit anyway

smle at everybody

Go and target the 10% of parents you like.

After tonight you won't really have to see them again as there isn't that whole school gate club thing at seniors.

Go. It strikes me as extremely unlikely that 90% of any random group of people are two faced bitches. You may be surprised.
