at being impatient with people who think there is only one cold virus and one flu virus

I have just been on another forum where a forumite was complaining about their unwell child and another forumite replied with 'oh that will be x, loads of children at school had it, it only lasts 24 hours'.

I hear this constantly and it drives me slightly nuts.

Maybe they were talking about one particular virus.

Viruses can be transmitted over the internet you know

Worked in pharmaceuticals, dealing with the flu virus. Soooo bored with people telling me "I won't have it because it gives you the flu"

IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE FLU!

At least they acknowledge it is a virus, not a result of getting a bit chilly/wet feet/insert other implausible bit of folklore, and therefore you can reason with them that it can't be cured by antibiotics. (Have many conversations with my dear Gran about these types of things)

Also "Is there something going round at the moment? I feel ill".
