with the words 'is mildly amused that....' should be slapped!

it makes me want to peel my skin off, it must be on a par with 'is utterly outraged' on the irritatation scale!

YABU, that's FBs entire modus operandi isn't it - to make you eat your own eyeballs??

ComedyOfErrors · 16/07/2010 15:22

IMO people who bother with fb status updates at all deserve pity

OnlyWantsOne · 16/07/2010 15:25

Oh, how kind. Love a bit of pity of an afternoon, thank you.

ComedyOfErrors · 16/07/2010 15:38

you're welcome owo

pinkgrapefruitjuice · 16/07/2010 15:51

YABU just 'defriend' them

ComedyOfErrors · 16/07/2010 15:51

but I do get the op's point

self indulgent and unoriginal are the worst

sapphireblue · 16/07/2010 15:52

lots of pity for me too then please..........

foureleven · 16/07/2010 15:52

What about when people say

'I cant believe what i just heard'

Eurgghh attention seeking.

IngridFletcher · 16/07/2010 15:54

Not as bad as 'thinks some people are...(insert snidey insult here)' which makes everyone instantly question whether it means them. Of course if someone replies with 'who do you mean' they don't reply or put something like 'ha ha! Are you trying to stir?' Well no, you are, you passive agressive moron.

foureleven · 16/07/2010 16:01

haha that would be a good FB status update

'.... is a passive agressive moron'

haoshiji · 16/07/2010 16:11

"... needs some sleep"

Is a good one...

Well stop typing shit in and go to sleep you idiot.

Off topic but just thought that if the Moat / Gazza thing had happened in say 89 / 90 I am sure there would have been a black lable rave tune with a sample of Gazza saying -

I got some chicken (doof doof doof doof) I got a dressing gown (doof doof doof doof) I got some chicken (doof doof doof doof) - repeat times 50.

usualsuspect · 16/07/2010 16:15

Don't read them then ,easy enough to hide them ..problem solved

toccatanfudge · 16/07/2010 16:16

I write "needs some sleep" when I'm wanting to see if any of my insomniacs are around on FB .

It's not quite as simple as "just go sleep" if you can't sleep even when knackered.

Actually I'd rather like a sleep now (and probably could actually drop off........but I have DC awake so can't).

Ladyanonymous · 16/07/2010 16:19

The pregnant people are the worst - with the CONSTANT baby/swollen ankle updates and the pregnancy calendar and ARGH!!!!

Curiousmama · 16/07/2010 16:22

Or the or the 'am thinking of leaving FB' followed by loads of begging messages....please stay etc... grrrrrrrr

I do update my status because I like reading my friends but only have real friends on view...I hide everyone else or delete them. Only have 70ish friends on my FB...some have 100s??

haoshiji · 16/07/2010 16:29

The 'friend' I was thinking of was just bored at 2am though and should have been in bed. Phone went off at 2am to tell me that. Have since removed status updates to mobile.

But to what end is 1 "need some sleep"

2 "Well get some"

3 "I can't bacuse of blah"

4 "Why tell me then?"

If anyone was around that also couln't sleep they would show up in the chat application?

Although I guess if people do get emails on status alerts then they may possible logon to say "get some sleep"

Sorry not moaning at anyone, just a bleurgh...

LOL

usualsuspect · 16/07/2010 16:35

Is'nt that what fb 's for though?

toccatanfudge · 16/07/2010 16:46

no they wouldn't show up in the chat application if they have their chat switched off

the obvious solution if it's waking you up is to set it so you're not getting your friends status updates emailed to you

blondewithbump · 16/07/2010 16:47

curious - i agree those updates are very annoying.

i also hate updates where people put for example 'is so confused', and then when some dimwit rises to the bait and asks what about, the person will say 'oh i can't say on fb, i'll text you.'

if you can't say it on fb don't invite questions on fb you attention seeking toad.

[toddles off for a fb friend purge...]
