Seething.
To cut a long story short, we sold our house in march, after being on the market for 12 months. Our buyers have a confirmed mortgage offer from co-op mortgages.
It's come to the 11th hour everyone is the chain is ready to complete on 26th July. We have been trying to exchange for the last week, Were all waiting on co-op mortgages to release some paperwork for the exchange and suddenly there is an outstanding approval of the environmental report we had done, at thier request, on our house 7 WEEKS AGO!!!!
For some reason they have identified possible risk of contaminated land, in a street of 70 or so 50 yr old houses where houses have sold before with no issue. There is no contaminated land here. This query may be a deal breaker if the surveyor suddenly decides that they shouldn't lend on this property. This is something that should have been discovered 7 weeks ago FFS! One iissue is that: We have to exchange tomorrow by 5pm or the people at the top of the chain will be pushing completion out until august and the other is that if they decide not to lend then the whole thing could be coming down like a house of cards.
Take heed, I will be complaining to the FSA very soon. Watch out for co-op mortgages.
