Usual story: in Sainsbury's carpark, loading up my shopping, some woman in a massive people carrier pulls into the parent & child space infront of me, jumps out of the car, locks it and walks off. There were clearly no children in the car so I called after her, "You do realise that's a family space, right?" She carried on walking so I called again, at which point she turned around, strode up to me and started berating me for shouting at her because I already had a space and there were other spaces free so why shouldn't she park there. I told her that she was being incredibly selfish and that she shouldn't park in a parent & child space just because she couldn't be bothered to walk a few extra metres to the store (ok, I was getting a bit het up at this point). She walked off so I took her registration down and reported her to the customer service desk, who really didn't care either. WIBU?

yANBU, I don't think what she did was the worst thing in the world, but it is annoying, I bet she will think twice before doing it again.

You will get support form some on here and none from others.
Shit happens.
They are not 'legal' spaces like disabled ones.
Think of the karma that will come back and get her evenutally.

no YANBU we live in a retirement area and I can't tell you the number of times I've seen pensioners parking in mother and baby spaces at the supermarket and our local garden centre - it drives me bonkers and I am inspired by your assertiveness and will definately say something next time!

YANBU, it pisses me off when people do this and I see it every sodding time I go to the supermarket. I'm too much of a wimp to say anything though as I did hear of someone who said something and when they came out, their tyres were slashed.

It is so annoying and inconsiderate and we have all seen it done so many many times, but until they are monitored in the same way disabled spaces are, I don't think there is much that can we can do about it. Have a go if it makes you feel better but we just have to live with it and get on with our day!

I got told off in morrisons for using one of these spaces and I had my baby with me!

I didn't shout at her, just called after her. I obviously didn't care about getting a space because I already had one and had done my shopping, what I cared about was the poor harrassed person with screaming children in the back of their car who wasn't going to be able to get a space after me. (School ending time)

i dont think YABU myself but i wouldnt have confronted the woman if i were you. you never know in this day and age which respectable looking person to berate just in case they are a psycho in disguise

i ALWAYS tell DH off if he is about to park in a P&C space if DD isnt with us as we can walk those extra few feet to the supermarket where a parent with a small/difficult child may struggle with parking further away. my mum insists on parking in P&C even though she has a disability badge and can park in disabled access spaces it really pisses me off!!

I reported the security guard who was working at the supermarket to the manager because he parked his car in a P&C space!!

yep cfc that person is me!!! Apparently old people think that we get those spaces because we 'cant be bothered to walk further' or so some old gripper told me.

If youve got a disabled badge, park where you like. If you havent dont use P&C spaces as a second best even if you are 90 (this also applies to not having to queue anywhere)

I once asked at the customer service desk if they could enforce these spaces better and was told that they had stopped confronting people who parked in them because of the abuse and threatened violence they received. I wish they would just use spaces further away from the store entrance - I don't use them to save on walking, I use them so I can open the doors wide enough to get at the child seats better.

I thought the whole point of P&C spaces was that you had a little more space to get a baby out of the side of the car. Not necessarily that it was closer to the store. God knows I could do with the exercise myself...

My DH made us all wait in the car for 5 minutes until some woman with no kids in the car with her got bored with waiting and drove off, muttering. We then left and the family behind her got the space. She was furious.
