went to drop something off at my grandads the other day, leaving dc's in the car (with dp) grandad asked why i didnt fetch them in and i said because the dr says that dd more than likely has asthma (shes 16 months) and i didnt want her around the smoke, theres 3 smoking adults in their house and they dont believe in passive smoking...

grandad said that i need to give her local honey because thats been proved to cure asthma... i said i think thats hayfever but him and my nana said its definately asthma....

they are wrong and i'm right yeah?

It is deffo for hayfever, but usually asthma and hayfever and excema are related. i.e if susceptible to one condition then can be more usual to have another, so although i have not heard about it helping asthma, there may be some connection.

Local honey is very very good for you though. It is also used in alternative treatments and can be used in wounds etc as it contains antisceptic.

Maybe a wise MNer will come along with some more info.

Have just done a quick google and it is quite interesting that folk have taken local honey for some months do find improvements in their asthma as well as hayfever.

I wonder if this is because alot of asthmas are prevalent during the hayfever season, such as my DS so the hayfever allergy from the pollen makes them wheezy. Wonder if this is the asthma your gps mean. anyway i may read some more about it and see what i can glean.

Asthma aside I wouldn't want my kids in smoky room.

If only it were that simple. However it sounds as though he was trying to help.
