The old design wasn't great but at least it was simple.

The new design is so tacky.

I did a survey for them on it before they released it, and said the same.

The site looks pretty much the same as the one I test drove.

It seems like they are throwing colours around for the hell of it. Gratuitous orange on the videos on the right; pointless dark for the stories if you scroll down a bit. The "most popular" section is far too big - why not fill that space with news stories instead? The entire right-hand side seems to be taken up with over-bright colours and shiny widgets instead of news.

And all horrible sharp corners instead of soothing curves. For some reason the sharp corners don't bother me on MN but they really do there.

ok - I hate it - what a bloody palava to get to my local news - doesn't help that no-one can decide "where" northamptonshire is - some say East Anglia, some say East Midlands, some something else entirely.

Three clicks is a palava? I think it's actually improved on regional news access, as it had become a real arse to get the full region's headlines- for North West you had to do several searches. Now you get the main headlines for all the bits (Manchester, Lancs etc)

I don't like it either. Must have a moan on their comments board.

it is a palava if you're in a county that doesn't easily "fit" into one of the regional areas

plus I like to nosey at what's going on in surrounding counties too - but they're all in different regions - it used to be nice and easy to just use the drop down box to find the relevant news area

Fair enough. Still think it looks sexy, but I also think DH looks strangely attractive in a shirt, boxers and socks, so I'm not an entirely reliable judge.
