im 35 weeks pregnant and very uncomfortable, yesterday i wore my pyjamas all day since they are the most comfortable things i have....

my grandad came round, looked at me and said " whats that?, look at the state of you?" then urned to dp and said " its enough to put you off for life, is she trying to stop you getting her pregnant again"

urgh!

nasty all round. Is he usually such a charmer?

arsesandoldlace · 12/07/2010 12:49

"Sorry Grandad, next time I'll try and look sexy for you"

Older people come out with all sorts of gems, don't they? My dad's similarly tact-impaired.

Sad
TitsalinaBumSquash · 12/07/2010 12:53

"Your no Van Gough yourself Grandad" would be the first thing out of my mouth.

How unpleasent i hope your DP stuck up for you.

missorinoco · 12/07/2010 13:00

Point out that post-partum you will only be wearing the pyjama bottoms due to engorged boobs, you may then not see him again for some time.

Ladyanonymous · 12/07/2010 13:03

Its very wrong but so tactless its kind of funny - sorry it upset you.

He does sound a real treat though your Grandad

RespectTheDoughnut · 12/07/2010 13:04

Was it said a bit tongue-in-cheek, with a twinkle in his eye? I can't imagine he was really being critical? But of course it is impossible to BU when you're so pregnant, so don't worry about that

MoonUnitAlpha · 12/07/2010 13:07

My grandad has completely lost any sense of tact in the last few years (or maybe he now just thinks he's old enough that he can get away with it ) - loudly points out fat people in the street, openly critical of other people's children being thick or rude, that kind of thing!

Limara · 12/07/2010 13:11

I'm laughing at what your grandad said tbh He sounds like a laugh! I was dressed in my pj's all day yesterday after a night out ,followed by vomiting and sleeping on sofa all night as too wobbly to walk up the stairs! I looked AWFUL and if anyone had said I looked that bad, i'd have agreed with them! I don't think grandad commented on yr bump did he? Maybe the pyjama 'LOOK' IYKWIM?

ChippingIn · 12/07/2010 19:37

Bloody hell - I can't believe your Grandad even thinks of you in that way - it's horrible TBH.

I'm not 35 weeks pregnant and I've spent all day in my PJ's (shorts/t-shirt combo) cos I'm just going to do this then have a shower - I haven't got to then yet! The world is still turning and anyone that doesn't like it can feel free to fuck off
