I can hear DH watching it in the next room..... Clarkson with his hideous drawling voice and his sartorial inelegance of jacket with jeans, a load of cars screeching and a bunch of men acting like 5 year olds.
Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Yabu. I love TopGear, ds almost dies laughing every Sunday watching it. I love the way they don't take anything including themselves too seriously.

I am the first to moan about even mild sexism, but Clarkson really doesn't seem sexist to me. I always get the impression when he writes that he has lots of respect for his wife. She did one of the reviews in the Times herself once. I don't think a daft bimbo type would last five minutes with him. He is an old perve though which makes me a bit . And he absolutely slated my beautiful car on TopGear a couple of years back; he knows nothing!

Top Gear definitely does NOT encourage aggressive bad driving. At one point someone noticed that Clarkson had an entirely clear licence while the the then roads minister, who had been having a pop at Top Gear, had nine points on his.

BMWs, particularly 3-series and 5-series (and most especially the M3) did build a reputation for being driven by cocks. A shiny M3 parked outside the office was just the ticket for the young thrusting sales execs. You know, the kind of nob-end who mistake boorishness and aggression as being strong and ambitious.

Now that that impression has been formed, said cocks are migrating to Audi (particularly the sportier ones) to get away from the stigma they themselves caused. It'll probably be Mercedes next and that would really piss Clarkson off .

delphinedownunder · 13/07/2010 13:02

It's a ridiculous programme. I hate JC's anticipatory pause towards the end of every sentence and the other two muppets just imitate it. The banter sounds increasingly scripted, definitely not off the cuff piss taking. What I find the most irritating is that fact that it is the same every time. Same stuff said about similar fast and expensive cars, same smug jokes, similar scripted "oh we're on the edge of disaster" 'adventures'. And these people get paid. This is TV presented by dinosaurs and is madness (and this is my opinion, to which I am entitled!).

ivykiller · 13/07/2010 14:01

Love it!!!

Morloth · 13/07/2010 14:15

I like the new BMW X6, will be a cock if necessary, because I will be a cock driving a BMW X6.

LuluF · 13/07/2010 14:17

Snorbs - Aaaw, you sound a bit grumpy.

MorrisZapp · 13/07/2010 14:18

It's appalling.

YANBU.

I like Top Gear it's funny, take Eastenders and every other boring rubbish soap opera off and replace them with entertainment like Top Gear instead.

I like James May he is good on everything I like his top toys shows and 20th century etc, but then my fave channel is Dave.

Snorbs · 13/07/2010 14:56

Do I? How odd. I think you're hearing things that aren't real.

Morloth · 13/07/2010 15:04

delphinedownunder "And these people get paid."

I know, the bastards. I need to figure out how to get paid for having so much fun.

LuluF · 13/07/2010 15:09

Haha! Yep - can definitely tell you're a Top Gear fan!

edam · 13/07/2010 21:15

delphine - they get paid because the show makes millions for the Beeb all around the world.

melikalikimaka · 14/07/2010 09:22

These dinosaurs make us laugh and feel young, like when you were at school. I also enjoy Richard Hammond's other shows as well as James May. They are the best on TV at the moment apart from Corrie. JC is an accomplished columnist and I enjoy him too. YABU!
