To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

pissedrightoff · 11/07/2010 20:17

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

This happened to a friend of mine in exactly the same circumstances as you, but it was GLTC and at Christmas... She did get her money back, but after going overdrawn..

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 14:10

Right, Got through to head office in Leeds.
Spoke to a very nice girl, explained the situation and that I am about to contact the press locally and have every intention of going national.
Also stated that I had started a thread on Mumsnet which has thousands of members and already some people have said they will not use Asda online again.

She is going to call me back by half past four.

DH is away up to the local shop who are letting us have stuff on tick until get some funds (that is one good thing about a small community like this, lovely, trusting shopkeepers) So at least we'll eat tonight.

I'll keep you all posted, thanks everyone for all the advice and support. xxx

i think this thread will give them some awful publicity. after reading this i will never use them, they keep emailing me and i was tempted to try, not now though! ill stick with Ocado thanks!

op - i hope you get it sorted.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 12/07/2010 14:13

Jolly good pissedrightoff!

I hope you get it back, I can't imagine how stressful this must be for you.

IndigoSky · 12/07/2010 14:15

Keep us posted - fingers crossed you get your money back today. With compensation too.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 14:15

Thanks vicar I hope so too, thats the great thing about mumsnet, there are loads of things I now know about/buy/avoid that without this forum I wouldn't.

At least I know my baby will be fed and watered now thanks to the local shop, but what if I didnt have that option??Asda dont care that I had no food or money, grrrrrr thought I had calmed down but am still livid

GeekOfTheWeek · 12/07/2010 14:18

Vicar, they keep emailing me too with offers on online shopping. I was considering using them but will go elsewhere now. I hate shoddy customer service.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 12/07/2010 14:21

Use Ocado

lemonysweet · 12/07/2010 14:25

marking my place on this as i have to know how it turns out!
Asda are shit with money and not sorting out missing home delivery goods quickly.
Tesco always bring broken squashed stuff.
Sainsbury's is fab, works out cheaper for me and drivers are always lovely and helpful.

chaostrulyreigns · 12/07/2010 14:32

Oh how I wish you could grt MNHQ to change this thread title to Cunting Asda.

Tanga · 12/07/2010 14:33

Is there an email link we could all use? (I've had two really terrible shopping deliveries from Asda and will never try them again anyway) Could we all email them saying we won't be ordering because of this story and send them the link?

hmmSleep · 12/07/2010 14:36

Another one never going to use Asda online after reading this. It's not just the hassle of having no money and no food, it's all the other hassle you're having to go through to sort it out! Hope you get it resolved soon pissedrightoff!

SagacityNell · 12/07/2010 14:41

chaos - i thought that too!

Hope they refund you. Here is another vowing never to use them online. I don't even like my local store!

RedArsedBaboon · 12/07/2010 14:44

This is outrageous. If ASDA have your money, they need to bring you the goods immediately. Surely this is theft otherwise?

If you are reading this people at ASDA I shall not be using your online shop again. To buy from you obviously poses a risk. You could take my money and then have the gall not to deliver the shopping, or immediately refund.

This lady deserves compensation for what you have done.

I am glad you have brought this to our attention PRO.

I hope you get food or refund by the end of today. It would not be too much for such a large company to send someone out with your shopping right away, and show people you have made a mistake.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 14:45

Chaos- that was my original title but I bottled it!!!

We work all week, for not much money, choose to spend the last we have with them and this is what happens.

C*S indeed (not the last girl I spoke to,she was nice)

OP posts:
Tanga · 12/07/2010 14:48

On their site they have a 'contact us - we're really intrested in your views' section. Shall we all email them telling them about this issue and link to the thread?

sethstarkaddersmum · 12/07/2010 14:49

bloody hell, this is shocking.
What I find so outrageous is that even when it's clear it's not your fault (ie it's between them and the bank) they still aren't trying to put it right.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 14:49

Tanga Yes,Yes,Yes lets all do it

OP posts:
chaostrulyreigns · 12/07/2010 14:57

Have done it Tange.

"After all the problems and disappointments I had trying to get groceries delivered to a friend and Asda's complete inability to react efficiently or professionally to the problem, I was not surprised to find this thread on mumsnet www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1000546-To-wonder-where-the-hell-is-my-shopping-and-or.
Good grief - Asda REALLY needs to sort out customer service, everyone will be defecting soon."

chaostrulyreigns · 12/07/2010 14:58

Sorry Tanga- I'm sure you are not an orange bird!

RedArsedBaboon · 12/07/2010 14:58

brilliant chaos, school run calling but will do on return.

Let's humiliate them into sorting this one out rapido!

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 15:03

Oh wow, this is fab

OP posts:
veyron · 12/07/2010 15:05

Copy pasted from my message to ASDA

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1000546-To-wonder-where-the-hell-is-my-s hopping-and-or?pg=3

I was just about to start using you as my main supermarket as my second child is due in a couple of months but after reading about your shoddy practices - I will be sticking with TESCO infact id rather walk or get the bus then trust you with my debit card details!

I will also be forwarding this link to everybody in my contacts list and encourage them to forward too!

  • Ha I always use Tesco anyway but they dont know that!!!
SanctiMoanyArse · 12/07/2010 15:06

Won't be using asda after this either; we used to but it got so crap (drivers always whinging about busy road and almost out of date food: plus their substitutions are shite- cereal substituted with bars of chocolate, wtf?) but as things ahve been tight lately was considering it agin.

No bloody chance.

Thank goodness for goodd small shopkeepers pissedrightoff, what a farce.

SWEB did something similar to us many eyars ago; took 34 payments that left us penniless for a waeek (was 210 instead of 140, a lot to us then- or now). When DH complained about not having money left he got a mouthful for 'having children and not budgeting to afford them'. Er, we could and had. All sorted in teh end with apology etc but the crucial bit was that it was our bank that got invovled: they didn't take kindly to being caught in the middle and made a few very huffy phone calls on our behalf. maybe ask for that to add to your case?

chaostrulyreigns · 12/07/2010 15:07

veyron - they do now!
