Cos it is very very annoying that everything seems to feel the need to had rediculous amounts of perfume to things when 1. it isnt necessary, 2. it can be very problematic to asthmatics and some IIRC other allergy sufferers to have these perfumes/chemicals in the air.

SO what can we use know that the preferred cleaning product round here, in that it shift the muck soaked off child and enthusiasic builder or soaking plants from the bath.

Any ideas?

I'd second both your frustration and Pixie's suggestion of vinegar. Also lemon juice (or vinegar) and bicarb mixed together mimic the slightly abrasive-ness of things like Jif. There are some more elaborate home made and non smelly alternative concoctions that you would find easily by googling I'm sure - using strange things such as borax . I've never tried these however...might explain why my house never clean as cannot uise smelly things either...
